Which other horses will drop out? At the moment the 10st 3lb horses will be fighting it out for the last 2 places

40    Farclas
41    Minella Times
42    Sub Lieutenant
43    Hogan's Height

Farclas might go Topham

Brahma Bull? Lake View Lad? Chris's Dream? Shattered Love? Balko Des Flos? All easy to back on the exchange.

Should get in - it's a 50:50 at the moment and there are surely more to come out.

Achille out.

Hendo ruled out Pym and Beware the Bear. That puts all the 10st 3lb horses in and puts the reserves bracket around

44    Double Shuffle
45    Ami Desbois
46    NR
47    NR
48    Blaklion
49    Some Neck
50    Secret Reprieve

That would be a shame. You'd expect Some Neck or Secret Reprieve to get in.
They'll be reserves anyway.

Pete

By my reckoning, 7 trainers have 2 or more horses in the top 40. If Secret Reprieve ends up as first reserve, the temptation will be to keep an unlikely runner in the race until after the reserves have been stood down so as to keep a well fancied opponent out of the race.

I also reckon we may get a couple more non-runners soon - the bad news is that neither of them are in the top 40.

Surprised Bindaree hasn't appeared to let us know the futility of a 7 year old trying to win the race.Cool

You have a suspicious mind Shocked

Doesn't it p1ss you off when horses come out after the reserves have lost their opportunity? I hate that.

It goes the other way too Pete. There was a lot of doubt about the turn of events that got Royal Rosa, the third reserve, into the race in 2010. Mind you, Howard Johnson was the trainer.

I think that Crievehill and Run Wild Fred no longer qualify for the race and have to be scratched. It won't affect Secret Reprieve though.

It sounds as though Evan Williams isn't too unhappy at SR missing the cut. He seems to agree with Bindaree about the chances of 7yos in the race but the Ruckers want the horse to take his chance.

Tom Scudamore 0/18 (no places)- can't have Cloth Cap. Secret Reprieve - last 7-y-o winner 1940- can't have him either.

sixtwosix: Is there any need anymore to post such an indisputable fact ? I think people will go skint ignoring something which happens every year. Maybe it will happen some time but ignoring such runners has always served me well. More to the point the race has been ruined by Phil Smith as can be witnessed on here by the lack of people who now bother to post about the race.
