Surely today has put to bed once and for all the notion that a 7 yr old has the stamina for this race. My final contribution until next year and well done to all the winners.

it's a strange one because 7 year olds don't do badly in the other stayers races. The stat is a very strong one though, I haven't checked but from recollection the last 7 y/o winner was back in the 1940s. There must have been at least a couple of hundred 7 y/os run in the race since then without any success
