We've had a pretty decent run of dry weather lately, apart from the storm that was around this weekend. I cant see it being any softer than good to soft, and more likely good ground.

One thing is certain nowadays. It will never be Firm
|
By:
they've invested a load in the watering systems and have watered on the Friday after racing and even saturday morning if they think its going to be too fast
Plus the thick covering of grass to slow the horses up so I think Mr Frisks course record will be safe for another year - and that was over tougher fences as well |
By:
Mr Frisk's record will stand for ever. Apart from anything else it's a shorter course now.

Heavy rain forecast Wednesday, light rain Thursday then dry Friday and Saturday.
|
By:
Rain has been forecast from wednesday evening onwards hence I think it would be the soft side of good at best.
|
By:
the going stick was 5.7 for the National course on Thursday-historically I think that equates to good to soft , soft in places.
Looking at the forecast it appears that going will probably be good to soft, unless they cop for one or more of the heavy showers forecast for Wednesday. |
By:
Lots of showers recently. Good to soft, soft in places
|
By:

Soft.

Soft ground would be tough for the top weights perhaps.
I would also put a line through The Druids Nephew. |

Really mild today and no rain about... imagine its pretty perfect good to soft ground by the end of the day and heading towards good in places if anything. Showers forecast for the next few days but only enough to keep it where it is imo. Will be amazed if its classed as soft come National time.

Ground improves on Tuesday
Following a drying day on Merseyside on Tuesday, the going on the Grand National course improve to good to soft, soft in places at the Canal Turn. Conditions also improved on the Mildmay Course, which was rated good to soft, good in places on Tuesday. The Hurdle Course remains good to soft, soft in places on the home straight. Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch said: "It has been another drying day, with temperatures getting up to 12 Celsius. "The forecast is for unsettled weather and we could have rain each day from showers, along with sunny intervals and cooler conditions. "Showers, being unpredictable and intermittent, may deliver between two and five millimetres of rain each day. There is plenty of moisture in the ground after a wet winter." |
By:
lots of rain around last night (30miles away)
|
By:
5mm overnight. Rain due to stop soon, national course back to soft with good to soft patches.
Mainly dry now until overnight friday / saturday am when they will get another deluge |
By:
With the grass no doubt been left very long and the very high water table i would think that softish ground will be the order of the day come saturday bearing in mind it will get all day to dry out b4 the big race. Not much help to any horse that wants top of the ground spring type conditions mind.
