Absolute disgrace, bookies take a mostly unsuspecting public for mugs. Shut the Front door 14/1 on the exchanges and 6/1 so. I'm sure there were plenty of other examples, the winner was 25/1 which was not a reflection of his true price either I'd say, not sure what he was on the exchanges. Thiefs.
Will be interesting to see how much if any publicity this is given and are those responsible held answerable for the shortening up in starting prices. I won't hold my breath.
Lydia mentioned it just before the off but she did it in a matter of fact low key way.
What were the exchange prices at the off for the horses in the places?

Interestingly, Many Clouds was a big exchange positive in the hour before the race, having been solid at 50/55 all morning.
Can you blame the bookies?
FWIW (and I'm sure it's the same for everyone else on here) if you're seen as having any kind of interest in racing, once a year your 'friends' will crawl out the woodwork and ask what you're backing for the National.
Every year I tell them a few names but always tell them to bet early, preferably on Thursday when the decs are known and certainly no later than 10.00 Saturday morning, for precisely the reason above - bookies will never give a sucker an even break!
No one ever listens.
Same on Saturday. I was at Aintree and a hen party asked me for a tip about 30 mins before the off. I told them to bet on the Tote, whatever they fancied, because chances are the prices would be better. Five minutes later they're down in front of a pitch in tats, putting their £2 e/w on Shutthefrontdoor, at some godawful price.
As crimes go, it's hardly up there with the massacre at Srebrenica but even so, some people are just beyond help.
