Why not let nature run its course? All this bloody animal rights tosh.
If you have a horse that needs genuine top of the ground, you'd be better off selling it because its never going to get its ground in this day and age. |

Absolutely lovely day today in Liverpool. Light breeze and 15-18 degrees from 11am-6pm. Another day or two like that and he'll have the taps on.

Sadly I don't think we'll ever see another "natural ground" race at either Aintree or Cheltenham ever again. We now need to make the most of what we've got.

Spot on Angel.
Years ago I used to study this race alongside long-range weather forecasts. Part of the excitement was working out what kind of weather we would get National week. Now I just study various levels of wetness ![]() |

No chance of Mr Frisks` course record ever being broken Mully.
Look back at his race record. He won 9 races 2 wins on Firm 6 wins on good/firm 1 win on good. He wouldn`t be winning the Grand National in this day and age. Yes, the ground would be the excuse. |

watered again last night!!!! BBC weather suggests it rained a lot this morning.
AINTREE began selective watering of all three courses after racing on Friday. RELATED LINKS Grand National card Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch said: "We have had another warm and dry day. Our policy is to provide safe jumping ground, and this is why we are watering parts of all three courses. I am planning selective watering, putting on three millimetres. "The showers that could come overnight are only possible and even if they arrived I only expect them to deliver one to two millimetres." The going on the Mildmay course was described as good, good to soft in places on Friday evening while both the hurdle course and National course were good to soft, good in places. |
