I like this one for the national, ran a decent enough race in the Beecher over the national fences, staying on at the end, but what I can't fathom is his run in the betbright chase, set a suicidal pace and then faded tamely.
The weights were already out for the national, so there was no need to look after his handicap mark.
Any thoughts??

The same thoughts struck me after the race. Aidan Coleman said quite early in the season that Renard was the stable's best chance for the National. In 47 chases, he has only run twice over more than 3 miles, staying on in both cases. During the race, I couldn't understand Liam Treadwell's tactics - I can only think that they were trying a different style of running. If he is still there after the second forfeit stage, he may be worth an interest.
