Just watched yesterdays action and cant help noticing somebody has been pinching the tops off the fences and I want to know who it was.
Was it Clare Balding? Is it the rain wot did it?
Something fishy has gone on but them fences aint wot they used to be, thats for sure.

Maybe it was the sponsors...hmmmm.

Anyone else think last year, they were even easier on Saturday than first two days?

The Aintree experience has been reduced to a mockery, racing has bowed down to the applause chasers

The real difference is the invisible one:  The fences are pretty much hollow now. Horses can plough through them easier than a hurdle.

The GN course may now be the easiest jumps course in Britain.

watching the reruns of the Red Rum years and earlier, there were gaping holes in the fences which the field were queueing to get through, probably no more than 2 ft high?

But they were stiffer and topped with spruce. These new fences appear to be all spruce.

they are like effing brush hurdles - they'll end up ruining one of the greatest sporting spectacles on earth.Cry

Still seems to be a specialist course though given the first two home yesterday both had previous form over the fences.

The fences may be a little smaller but 18 finishes out of 40 tell me, its still a formidable race.

Its supposed to be a jumping test and stamina test - not an impossible test.

lots of pocket talk on here, nothing wrong with it, you've got to move with the times. Less than half the field completed on decent ground, plenty of carnage from what I saw

Don't see what the issue is.

I've posted elsewhere as to what the issue is - pandering to the mewlings of a gobby minority who think they can boss an agenda.

Fair play the fences were more of a test this year, last year was a joke.
