I like Rupert, will definitely get in handicap rating wise and has won over 3 miles and has never fallen. But my brother says he has a problem with breaking blood vessels.

Already done 2 on here. Triolo D'Alene at 150 and Ace High at 300. Might be pushing it with Ace High but think Triolo has a chance but maybe a bit young, has already won over the new easier fences.

I really like Time for Rupert too. He certainly has the class, and is going for the Long Walk hurdle next to keep his current chasing mark. He was found to have some sort of brain tumour in the summer which has been operated on, but this surely explains his disappointing runs last season. He jumps well and will not be the current long odds on the day - if he gets there of course....Has been backed from 100s on here. 50s or better is good value in my view bearing mind the risks at this stage

Good spot Liqern. I saw he was declared on Saturday in the staying Chase at Haydock, but never noticed the trainer change. Looks on an attractive mark to me if he retains his old ability, but that is an IF at this stage. I will back him if he lines up on Saturday and he will need to win 1 or maybe 2 hcps if he is to actually get a run in the National.

is the bet of the season imho before this Saturday's Betfair chase! If he beats Bob's (which i cannot see happening myself) then its the king george and Gold Cup, BUT if he don't then the National will be his aim apparently!
I read this in yesterday's The Sun by the way, i have had a little tickle

Good suggestion Seathestars - there are always so many runners in the National that just cannot win, but Long Run has class and would be a most interesting runner. I will join you with a modest i9nvestment, but still also fancy Time for Rupert at a much longer price

Well, if we're talking about horses coming back then look no further than The Minack. On @ 400's. The Ascot run before he got injured doesn't look too shabby now does it, especially with a National winner behind? I think being able to win a competetive handicap off 150 is a massive positive plus his dam is an Irish National winner who then went on to finish 3rd in another Irish National and then finished 4th in the Grand National only five days later. Class horse, great family, top trainer and just hope he has got over his injury.

yes for the latecomers Paddy, but I may well go in again before the Long Walk. There will be publicity about his season's goal and protecting his now lower chasing mark which could reduce his price further. Denis O'Regan loves this horse, thinks he is a natural for Aintree and wants the ride. We'll see in 10 days whether the old Rupert is back!

Good news - Rupert scoped badly after the race which explains the swift drop back in the Long Walk. Paul Webber confirmed Rupert will now go chasing and the National is the target. 50s still available.

The speed at which he stopped I thought it was the blood vessels again. Lets hope the chasing is short of 3 miles to get his hcap mark down a little. Every pound will count come Aintree.

On His Own has just won the Thyestes chase again(great performance) and is being aimed at The Grand National. Why are they bothering? He'll be rated about the same as the previous two FALLS in the race or maybe a bit higher and if 2 falls doesn't warn you off these new easier fences then you're asking for trouble IMO. Can't understand why anyone would feel inclined to back him in the National.
Time for Rupert followers(not me) he runs on Saturday in the Skybet Chase.

stable out of form with yard virus ( see Paul Webbers website latest news) and Rupert was keeping on at the end so not giving up on him yet - he needs better ground as well

Double Seven's next race is likely to be in the Crabbie's Grand National following his first run for 126 days at Leopardstown. Trainer Martin Brassil was satisfied with the effort of the JP McManus-owned eight-year-old in unsuitable ground conditions when sixth behind Pass The Hat in the Carrickmines Handicap Chase. All roads now lead to Merseyside on April 5 after Double Seven returned to the track for the first time since he completed a five-timer at Wexford in late October. Double Seven has been flagged up as the possible mount of Tony McCoy in the big race, with Colbert Station also in the running for the champion jockey's services. "He feels fine, but he hasn't done much since the race," said the County Kildare handler, who won the National with Numbersixvalverde in 2006. "He's just had a couple of easy days, but he seems to have taken the race well enough. "I had him fairly fit and I don't know much it will bring him on but I suppose he ran as well as to be expected on that ground. "At the minute the plan is to go straight for the National."
