Driving to Aintree on Saturday for first time. Any suggestions of where we could park within walking distance?

if you're coming off the M57 you can park in the Asda car park on the left - you have to pay (£5 I think it was last year) but you can leave it there all day. It's then about a mile walk along the Ormskirk Road to the course.

Someone more local may be able to get you a bit nearer but it's done for us for last 3-4 years.

Asda is good call. Slightly nearer is Coop on longmoor lane.also easy access to back of course which is a nice walk across the course face on to stands. There will also be paid parking at chaser pub, That would be my recommendation.might be an idea to buzz ahead to book a space. Will be bustling for a jar too.

attica - springy and proctor are right but those places are limited so you would have to get there early. Where are you travelling from. You might be better linking into the rail service on the Liverpool to Ormskirk line - on National day trains run every 7.5 mins and Aintree station is directly opposite the racecourse entrance. Great atmosphere on the train before and after the races and station is 2 mins walk to the course.

Park one stop up on the train. The northbound trains are just as regular but with no-one on them, cos everyone's going to town. You can go one stop up, takes two minutes and you're away. It's a piece of piss.

Agree with the above two posters - park up somewhere along the line further north and get the train in. Maghull has a fairly big car park next to the station. Makes for an easier getaway afterwards too.
