Unbelievably the jockey who won a Gold Cup, Ryanair, Paddy Power Gold Cup has been jocked off Imperial Commander for the Grand National!

I understand Imperial Commander will be ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies.

Paddy is suspended for Aintree so couldn't ride it anyway should they run it in the National!

Hmm read this the other day, wondered if the forced jockey change might be the tipping point that makes them miss the race for the Bowl.  I'd love to see him have one more shot at glory but will the owners decide it is too risky?   He'd officially be the best horse to run in the race in several decades (peak OR 185), by some way by my reckoning?  Thinking back, Suny Bay peak OR 174, Garrison Savannah 175?  Any higher?

The old weight stats can be thrown out now with the compressed handicap also the measures this year to slow the early pace could make them even more redundant.  His prep doesn't look ideal but is ideal for him with his need for rest between races.  Can see him running well and is well handicapped off 158.   Teaforthree will by my main selection but will go in for IC too if he gets there.

Sam rode the National course exceptionally well in the autumn.
