Iknow he goes on soft but do you think he'll stay the whole trip on that surface?

Turtle Island's progeny do seem to have a preference for softened ground. I think it would aide rather than hinder.

Would you not be worried that he was out on his feet at the death last year and soft ground would require more staying ability than the good ground last year?

no he wont stay,and even if he did would have to jump better than last year.

He had a full campaign last year and the GN was more than likely an after thought.
It will make a big difference that he has been primed for the race this season. |

Katie will ride him round the outside which adds distance (although falls are less likely) so he will probably run out of puff like last year. Soft ground will make it worse.

I've backed him but I always seemto start having doubts after the money is down. I picked him more by default than anything else as I think it's a weaker race than last year, On his Own is a worry but lacks experience.

angel gabrial hit the nail on the head, i'm sure i read last year that ted walsh said seabass peaked in february and wasn't at it's best in the national. katie now knows stamina is an issue and will surely ride it with this in mind.

I'm not sure it will be that soft, there is not much rain forcast up here between now and the 6th, its very windy which will only aid the ground drying out.

Yeah been quite a bright if still cold day today. I'm only a couple of miles from the course. Hopefully it stays this way.

Interesting article,can;t believe mis-informed people have made an informed decision based on stats!
The reality is that making the ground easier make sthe race gruelling -if they get extra rainfall making the going soft then not many will finish making the race a slog and more dangerous to horse and jockey |
