Silver By Nature, who has not been seen since the 2011 John Smith's Grand National, is nearing a return to action.

Lucinda Russell's grey won Haydock's Grand National Trial in 2010 and 2011 and has that race as an aim once more in February.

He is first likely to contest either the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock or the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster, while a trip to Ireland could be on the agenda later in the season.

"Silver By Nature worked on Sunday and went really well," said the Scottish-based handler.

"I think he'll start off in either the Peter Marsh or the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster.

"The Grand National Trial at Haydock will be his main aim again.

"We had considered one of the big handicaps in Ireland because he'd get his ground, but he needs a run to get back to his best.

"We might go over to Ireland in the spring with him."
