Without doubt, Always Waining should be acknowledged by his supreme achievements.
I am sure the powers of Aintree are considering such a worthy honour.
Regretfully, I reckon he would have to win The National to be so gloriously honoured.
eg The Red Rum is run over the park fences, as is The Manifesto. The Reynoldstown is run at Ascot.
No horse, in my memory has been honoured by their name given to a performance over The National fences.

People will scoff because its a handicap but the point is that Always Waining doesn't run over fences in between Tophams, he ticks over in hurdles and then come April BOOOOOM, 20 odd rivals put in their place, emphatically. Mon Parrain will turn out to be decent and the way he accounted for him in 2011 was just staggering.
Grand horse. Will be backing him again this year, owes nothing.

'Peter Bowen's old favourite has won the last three runnings of the Topham Chase at the same meeting and has not appeared since his most recent victory.
"He'll just have a couple of runs somewhere before the National," said the Haverfordwest trainer.
"He won't be coming out while the ground is so soft."
Great to see AW have a crack at the big one finally... had a bit of the 140s on here now target confirmed... cheers.

On good ground I think he'd stay and obviously be a danger to all. Backed him for all 3 Topham wins, 40-1 first time and can't think of a better Aintree horse since Red Rum.

NICE TO SEE THREAD GAINING MOMENTUM, WHAT I WOULD SAY FLYINGBOLT,AS A YOUNG HORSE HE WON ON REAL BAD GROUND AT UTTOXETER, SINCE HE WENT CHASING HIS PPPP CAME ON BAD GROUND,OVER A DISTANCE,I FOR ONE WILL GIVE HIM A CHANCE ON BETTER GROUND AT THE NATIONAL TRIP AT A COURSE HE COMES ALIVE AT IN APRIL

At the current price though and based on Tophams you would have to say he would be still bang there jumping for fun with a 1.25m left to run I think he is a good bet. Questions marks about distance but so do most beyond 3.5m 4m. I think his most recent run over 3 miles was his best. Although well beaten I thought it was a decent run in the Becher given it was on heavy ground at a time of year where he had not shown any form in since 2008. If decent ground think he definately has a chance and at the price and way he loves Aintree and given every year is in completely different form come April from anything else in shown at any other time during season.

Yeah great run to get round. Sadly don't think we will see another like him again any time soon such a great jumper of the national fences but with the changes to the fences future ones like him who jump cleanly and clear the fence will most likely be at a disadvantage to the speedier lower jumpers who can get away with going through the top of the fence and making mistakes.
