^ definitely. I reckon he could line up on a 3 legged donkey and the public would still make it favourite by the off.  If he rides the Gold Cup winner, it could get seriously short imo.
Report Mooono April 5, 2012 5:39 AM BST
Dont you guys remember last year? The Thursday and Friday Dontpushit was as tight as McCririck in a spandex catsuit, backed to clear fav..Then on the saturday 30mins before the race, was out to about 16/17 on here..The Joe public wont be able to sink the sync into fav, the stat shrewdys before the off will make the once a year McCoy lemmings gamble, go wayyyyyyyy down south..
Report Ming_the_Merciless April 5, 2012 7:27 AM BST
Chicago Grey - because he's grey
Report rogerthebutler April 5, 2012 10:05 AM BST
Tom Seagal has given a very positive nod to Seabass in the Weekender, if Walsh is on board.

This could well be Pricewise on the day and given this and given the number of once a year punters that buy the racing post for this tip it'll be Seabass.
Report Brian April 5, 2012 10:14 AM BST
Synchronised if it runs would be odds-on to be favourite.

Synchronised 2-1 with billys hills...huge imo.
Report zilzal1 April 5, 2012 12:35 PM BST
imo you are just backing him at 2-1 to run, there is no way that it isnt going to go off fav with AP up on board

Really??

Off top weight, against 30-plus other horses, after winning the Gold Cup only 4 weeks previously?

When was the last time there was an odds on favourite for the Grand National?
Report breadnbutter April 5, 2012 2:37 PM BST
odds on TO BE FAV ....not odds on to win the nat.

nothing wrong with that statement.

the gap between GC and GN is more than other GC winners have had and is very fair .

at the end of the day would not touch the market as when DPI won it was backable at 18/20 on course at the off and somehow they shamefully got it returned 10/1 fav !!!

2nd guessing this market is a crazy idea imo .

but the AP gold cup winner will be very well backed ,it could easily win but not for me ,chicago grey has been very well backed and  wont be far from being fav but there will be several late gambles with one sustained plunge on the day sorting it out ,but as mentioned they can return anything they want fav after the off so how can you play that market ?
Report zilzal1 April 5, 2012 2:37 PM BST
Think you've misread it RogLaugh

He'd be virtually certain to start fav, however he wont be odds on, around the 11-2 mark id see him atCool

I also think Synchronised - class horse with the champion jockey on board and a near certain stayer. I won't be backing him mind Mischief

On His Own or Junior will be fav.

Ruby will ride On his Own, while junior will be hammered.
Report strontium April 5, 2012 6:36 PM BST
Junior might as well start now.
Report thelastleprechaun April 5, 2012 7:07 PM BST

People said the same about Ballabriggs last year Stront.

I'd have been one of them Laugh

Actually, I read your "hammered" to mean the same thing, but presumably you meant there'll be a lot of money for him?
Report strontium April 5, 2012 8:51 PM BST
Incidentally, if you think Synchronised can't jump round, the same must be true of junior.

I thought ballabriggs would be lapped last year, was big on Oscar Time and ....what a Friend Plain

I hate this race tbh. Last winner I had was Numbersixvalverde about a decade ago

William Hill: 2-1 Synchronised, 7-2 Ballabriggs, 4-1 Junior, 6-1 Seabass, 13-2 Chicago Grey, 11-1 Cappa Bleu, West End Rocker, 16-1 On His Own.

This is from the RP site today. Can't find it either on Billy's site.
Report breadnbutter April 5, 2012 9:42 PM BST
there is no market thats why ,hills would never lay those prices in a month of sundays imo
Report the istabraq years April 6, 2012 10:42 AM BST
Your actually wrong as if you read above i took the 2-1 synchronised yesterday afternoon, they then went 7-4 straight away and have now pulled it, maybe for a while, maybe full stop but if you do your homework you ll know 2 others firms are up with it now in SJ and VC...its not rocket science to go on oddschecker breadnbutter !.
Report GaryBaldie April 6, 2012 11:51 AM BST
Junior is going to be on Top Gear the night before G.National I read in RP. I think money could come for him Friday night before the Nat cos of this...
Report breadnbutter April 6, 2012 3:58 PM BST
ok see the vc market now ,link was not working yester and no  prices were avail  but i see prices now .ffs sunnyhill is a 6/1 chance and burton port a 12/1 shot ! both likely nrs .

if you have 2/1 snc thats not a bad bet imo but my interest in this fred was about the title of the market "what will start fav" a bit misleading as that is determined after the race is finnish under the corrupt sp system ,you are betting on what will be returned fav not what will start fav .dh rules are the killer in this market i would think .

ROGERTHEBUTLER, Walsh is on SEABASS so do you still think it will start favourite?
Report CVByrne April 9, 2012 11:55 AM BST
Walsh is on on his own I heard? Did he chance horses?
Report RedAdair April 9, 2012 2:00 PM BST
I am expecting Synchronised to get round...tho' I really can't see him winning.

I'm sure he'll be the favourite on the day.

BTW...if Synchro does win then I'll be very happy at being proved wrong.

Go Synchro!!!
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 April 9, 2012 2:09 PM BST
This is always such a volatile market and imo anyone that plays in it needs the heads read. Every year we talk about this, there is a what looks at the time an obvious candidate for being fav but for during the run up to the race when the first show comes through for one to absolutely collapse in the betting and then get returned fav. Ok that don't always happen that they return the 'steamer' fav but it has the last couple years (not sure exactly how many times out of last 10 yrs but is at least a couple, and we are talking about horses that were upwards of 20/1+ in morning not the 12-16/1 shots that invariably can shorten up in any race)
Report bazzar April 9, 2012 3:12 PM BST
CVByrne, please read and understand, I won money from a MANCHESTER UNITED fan several years ago by asking him if he wanted to back UNITED in a match with LEEDS UNITED, when he accepted I told that he had got LEEDS and I would have MANCHESTER united.

seathestars...if for the reasons youve given it is tricky to price up doesnt it make it more likely the odds compilers will make a mistake and therefore a great mkt to play in. vc made 2 massive ricks imo....one of which they have got away with(prince de beauchane which was 8s)they have now closed their book.

What are the odds of Synchronised actually taking part? McCoy still saying "if" he runs and O'neill has left a couple of others in as well.
Report Wado April 9, 2012 10:28 PM BST
Synchronised is set to be one of four runners for owner JP McManus, whose racing manager Frank Berry said on Sunday: "The plan is to run Synchronised but he will first just do a bit of work early in the week."

Doesn't sound certain yet.
Report George Bailey April 9, 2012 10:40 PM BST
No which is a worry.  Its almost like the "bit of work" is a ready made excuse for some reason.  Almost 100k traded on here so there would be a lot of disappointed punters. Isn't someone going 8/1 with a run or is that gone now?
Report George Bailey April 9, 2012 10:44 PM BST
Do we know what McCoy might be on if it doesn't run?
