Been told by a friend of owner Kay Birchenhough, more likely to head across to Fairyhouse next Monday for the Irish National due to the ground.

Yep fair enough. Will the ground over there be any softer though ? He'd be running off 6lb higher aswell.
Anyway, good luck with what they decide to do. Most of my bets are on NRNB which I did stress on the other thread. |

Victor Dartnall is aiming Giles Cross at Aintree rather than take him to Fairyhouse for the Irish equivalent on Monday, but he too would love to see some rain on Merseyside for his Haydock Grand National Trial winner.
"It looks as though he'll be going to Aintree now because the ground isn't soft enough for him over in Ireland," said the Devon trainer. "It's more likely to be softer at Aintree. It is softer there at the moment and hopefully they will get some more rain. "He's in great form and let's hope we are able to run him. "He should get in the race now as there are a few to come out." Giles Cross, who was 15 lengths ahead of Cappa Bleu when second to Le Beau Bai in the Welsh National, will have a different jockey on board as his regular partner, Denis O'Regan, is unable to ride at 10st 1lb. "Denis can't do the weight and the ones at the top are staying in," Dartnall went on. "It's a shame as he gets on so well with him. We've got someone in mind but we haven't decided yet. "The horse is in great order and if it was good to soft ground it would be brilliant for him." |

i was just about to say kelami was talkn sh1t the ground is going to come good for him and if he runs he wins,i think kelami just trying to send the price out the back him but its coming back in now

Thats what i was told on Sunday. But will be absolutely delighted if he goes to Aintree. Personally think good/soft will be ok, though obviously something softer would be more ideal.

No Dennis is a worry for me aswell Trev. I thought he'd make the wieght just as a one-ff!

Sounds like the Irish National was their preferred option but that they've changed plans due to the ground in Ireland.
O'regan not riding looks a significant negative to me, don't know what his minimum weight is but if he'd only be putting up small overweight it looks a mistake to me. The horse appears to need to be held on to until the last moment before being let down which O'regan did to perfection last time. Unsure whether to back him now .Could they possibly employ Paul carberry to ride him? |

I've backed him now at 25/1 despite the jockey doubts and make him no bigger than 10/1 for the race. It's not impossible that if they get rain (I don't think its essential) that he could go off near favourite. |

5 lbs better off with a gold cup winner for 2.5 l....you know if there is enough rain....and both turn up it would'nt suprise me to see giles & synch going at it round the elbow..trouble is my brains saying synch would out stay him if that was the case

I'm on Giles Cross too at 38s so hoping that the ground is at the very least good to soft next Saturday!
With regards to the jockeys, Paddy Brennan is a good shout for the horse and one of the best free agents in the business. If he doesn't get Paddy, then I guess Andrew Glassonbury gets the ride as he rides for Victor when Dennis is not available. I'd rather see Will Kennedy get the ride though as I think he's a very underated jockey who would give Giles a perfectly good ride and give it everything he had. |
