As I remember, most firms go 5 places on the day, and some go 6. Now as I understand it, if you place an antepost bet when the terms are 4 places and the firm in question decide to later pay 5 places, your bet will also be paid to 5 places.
With this in mind, I thought it might be useful to know which firms are likely to go 6 places (if they all do the same as last year).
This way, you can possibly steal some decent antepost prices, and also know that you are likely to be paid for a place up to 6 places. This is especially important for those of us determined to throw sentimental money at State of Play again this year.
Anyone remember who offered 6 places last year?

Off the top of my head I think it might have been Spoilsports and VietCong Bet. Anyone correct me?

Im sure wen u do an AP bet u get the AP terms = e.g 1/4 1,2,3,4

I know you get the same ew terms for less runners, ie if 7 go off you still get 1,2,3 etc but I always thought that the firms going 5 or 6 places would still do that for any ew antepost bets struck

guys so we knowthe answer? In the Supreme |Novices Skybet go 5 places according to oddschecker whilst everyone else goes 3 places.
Are the other bookies likely to follow suit closer to the time? I assume i get the 5 places no matter what turns up on the day? |

I'll be flabbergasted if any firm decides to give you better place terms than those struck when you place the bet - part of the the sacrifice you have to make for hopefully getting the better price early on is just having the four places in most cases.
VC definitely went first 6 last year after 48hr decs...cant imagine there will be many that dont go 1st 5 come the final decs but expect wholesale price chops when they do. |
