were u coming from?

From the national website

The designated car park is off Ormskirk Road, on the same side at the racecourse.  Cost is £12.00 per car and needs to be booked in advance online or by calling the Booking Line on 0844 579 3001. Racegoers will only be able to access the disabled car park area on production of the customer’s blue badge.

There used to be a park and ride service with access from the M57 but unsure if that is still available.

Where are you travelling from?

The best and quickest way to access the course is by rail. Aintree station is opposite the course. shuttle service operates from Liverpool Central. From the other end of the line the service runs from Ormskirk. Many people park near stations along the Cental/ Ormskirk route. Rail service is cheap and fast. I would even suggest getting there before 12.00 as it is very busy on the friday around the course entance from about 12.00. Every year people leave it late and miss the first race

Can't emphasize enough how important it is to get there early. Rail service from Liverpool central operates every 7 1/2 minutes. Leave the car at home and have a drink.

Thanks for your replies.

We're coming from Cardiff. 7 of us, so will be cheaper to chip in on petrol (friend has a seven seater)than each buy a train ticket for £100 each!!! Or whatever they are these days.

I'll take a look at those links, and possibly have to rethink arriving at noon.

Ok, done that trip loads of times.

1. make sure u are on the road by 6.30am at the very latest.

2. get past Birmingham by 8.00 - 8.30am, Stop at Stafford, for a leek etc, get back on the road by 9.30.

3. Push on past Knutsford get on the M62 for Liverpool, you should get to Liverpool by 11.30

4. As you get to the end of the m62, your faced with several turn offs, you need to get onto Queens Drive heading towards the football ground,,the A5058, CARRY STRAIGHT ON THIS FOR ABOUT 4 MILES, passed several sets of traffic lights.

5. After about 4 miles you will see a MACDONDALDS drive thru on your left, you have to take an immediate right at the next junction and you will see a 24 hr ASDA store with other buildings and a petrol station.

6. Park your transport there, it will be free as its not a match day, and very very safe. You should be here by noon. There is a huge taxi rank there. Plenty of them.

7. Jump a taxi, tell the taxi driver to get you to the 'black bull pub' it should cost no more than £5-£6 in the taxi, get out at the pub, walk the other half mile no point waiting in the taxi, just follow the crowds. Racecourse by 12.30, ENJOY! THE SIGHTS.

You may get there sooner, ive been a liitle onservative with the times, but i would definately look to be on the road by 6.30.

8. Remember were your parked, the ASDA 24 HR ON QUEENS DRIVE FOR THE RETURN TAXI.

GL

I suggest this as you are no more than 4 miles from the racecourse when you stop to park up, but its a nightmare anywere nearer and you have no side streets etc to negotiate. Plus your on a straight road to get beck out of the city.

Four good looking boyo's with south wales accents - can't see you lads getting back to Cardiff till at least Sunday - the girls will 'gobble' you up. Have a great day and good luck.

I live in Aintree, on Altway (L10 6LE). The police block the ends of the road off sometmes (defo Saturday) - just drive past them saying you are a resident, drive down a side street and park.

5 mins walk to the course.

Even better, park in the Valentine pub car park next to the shops on Altway. They won't care as long as you have a pint.
