One that has plenty of positives in the National (except his age) is Quinz and he is going to carry my money despite the stat against 7 year olds winning it.

He has too much in his favour to ignore him just because of his age - form, weight, going, track and being very progressive all big positives and he will do for me off just 10st 8lb - absolutely thrown in IMO.

Anyone else think so - best price 20/1 with 5 places with BS

I'll be surprised if he's still standing after Becher's first time round.

I was keen but the more you look at his profile the more of a negative it is. He could be the most ideal 7 year old for a long time though. He could go well.

Wow, it was 1940 the last time a 7-year-old won (Bogskar carrying 10-4; 25/1). Was top-weight greater than 11-10 back then as well? Confused

Quinz carries 10-8, and I've backed him myself.

You won't be glad to learn I am not usually a wise horse punter. Grin

im not sure what the racing post chase form amounts to.

sometimes stats should be ignored, sometimes not

in this case it makes sense that you need a horse with plenty of experience hence on balance its better to be backing older horses

I love Quinz and was strong on his chances before I read the age stat. It proves how hard it is for younger horses to win. I will still back it but with a smaller stake.

I am worried how he will fare on the first circuit, if he is still there and in a reasonable position I think he will run a big race.

Not too worried by the 7 year old stat - what about Long Run in the Gold Cup and King George! Main reason the stat is poor is that not many 7 year olds run in the race.

Re the ground he is better on good ground so it should be spot on for him on Saturday - dont forget he won the Racing Post on ground that was considered too soft and is a big improver based on that run IMO.

He wont be 20/1 on the day so start taking the 20/1 if you fancy him - 25 on here for the win.

I'm a big fan of this horse and piled in when he was confirmed to run. However, I've yet to back a national winner in 20 odd years of trying :-(

If you look at his actual birthday 10th May 2004 he is actually six! Not saying that he won't win but something to bear in mind.
Report Derbyshire Racing April 6, 2011 12:28 PM BST
Have picked a few winners over the years, Aldaniti way back in 81 when I first started punting, landed a nice touch on Mr Frisk in 1990 (kept backing him after his Kim Muir run at 33/1) then Seagram the year after and I piled into Bindaree too. Not so good more recently but think this horse will run very well, sunshine all the way now until Saturday so expect ground to be just on soft side of good come the race IMO

worried that he's been put into the race early because of his mark, year to soon :S

Nacarat's easy win today a big form boost for Quinz ahead of the National - he trounced Nacarat in the Racing Post Chase on ground that was too soft, on his favoured ground and off 10st 8lb (9lb well in officially) he has to be the form horse if he gets round.

I really like this horse, one of the best jumpers of a fence i have seen this season. The age is a problem but the price covers that problem, dont french bred horses have a poor record in the national ??
Report Angel Gabrial April 7, 2011 8:53 PM BST
I think he will go well for 3.5 miles.

Dont worry about his age-mssrs Hoobs and Johnson are very bullish -Hobbs is too shrewd to risk the apple of his eye unless he knows how well he jumps and is thrown in on Hcp
Johnson says he wouldnt swap him for another..can see him having long look round at the elbow
am on him for 2012 gold cup
Report MANCHESTERSKYTRAIN April 9, 2011 12:06 AM BST
I wouldn't be worrying about his age , i like the horses style and he is potentially well in, my concern is i have a feeling he is much better on a right handed track
Report Flagship2 April 9, 2011 12:07 AM BST
Why would anyone think the track will suit?

Big mover on Betfair this evening. Is he going to be the Pricewise horse?
Report rebelfm April 9, 2011 12:44 AM BST
When a seven year old wins again it is most likely to be one of those early maturing french breds sneaking into the handicap around the 10-6 level with some top class staying handicap form and one of the top five jockeys up.
