think you will know your fate at the first fence he will take to it or down tools immediately
Report tommo1980 April 4, 2011 8:15 PM BST
i agree but my reasoning is if takes to it will stay got a touch of class and 40s is just to big a price
Report DukeofMarmalade April 4, 2011 8:57 PM BST
I agree he looks good on paper but for the National I like a horse that jumps well and travels well, Tidal Bay does neither anymore. I wouldn't put anybody off at 40's it's a reasonable price but he is that price for a reason.

never did jump to be fair

Can't jump but has never failed to complete in 27 goes over hurdles and fences +++ Think that the extra distance will either make him or break him +++ At 40-1 (but shortening) he represents decent value +++ message ends +++

i can see him traveling well through race and a solid jumper running on in gold cup think trip will suit ive more than convinced myself

but think just how far behind he will get - think amberleigh house then treble it....
Report Rondetto April 6, 2011 11:21 AM BST
I thought those who backed him in the Gold Cup were mad and said so but this time round Aintree he could be worth a bet.

He's a total weirdo Tidal Bay but I think he may just take to these fences, if he does then there will be only one winner.

The thing is will he line up? If he does then I'll def have a bet and if he jumps the first half dozen well I'll be in again.

One of my 3 against the field.

Scottish national would have suited him much better.
Report Nutkins April 6, 2011 12:00 PM BST
if they increase the National distance to 8 miles he may just have a squeak
Report Rondetto April 6, 2011 2:11 PM BST
10 lengths behind what a friend in the gold cup wasn't that bad a run.

Tell you what if I was Tony McCoy and had jumped to the front 2 out, looked behind and saw Tidal Bay 10 lengths behind I would worry more than I would having What A Friend upsides me.

I think he'll love the place to be honest and I haven't backed him or liked him since he won the Arkle.

Theres much worse 40/1 shots imo, iv had a saver on him. Simular profile to Don't Push It.
Report revedesivola April 6, 2011 7:25 PM BST
dont push it is a tryer
Report Rondetto April 7, 2011 8:57 AM BST
Well Tidal Bay tries too, tries your patienceLaugh

This horse is a freek!  Could potentially press the turbo button off the elbow & smoke up by 12 lengths all day long!!!
Report JazzDance April 8, 2011 10:41 PM BST
well said thebigeasy ! i can see this machine make a mockery of the grand national ! TIDAL BAY,TIDAL BAY,TIDAL BAY ,TIDAL BAY .....
Report Ron_Heaths_Black_Cab April 8, 2011 11:15 PM BST
Could sulk imo and be pulled up before the canal turn.
