Would anyone who lives near the course be so kind as to provide daily updates on how much rain has fallen on the track.

I checked the Met Office today and it said there was some rain around Liverpool this afternoon but the official going according to Aintree website was still good (looked like it hadn't been updated for a couple of days).

Thanks a lot

On racing post website today

Andrew Tulloch, clerk of the course at Aintree, reported on Wednesday that rain could be in store later in the week.

He said: "There has been steady drizzle today, which has amounted to around 1mm, and the going remains good on all courses.

"We could see some further showers tomorrow, with the forecast for a band of rain to arrive on Friday.

Looking at the days before the big race, Tulloch added: "The long-range forecast is for unsettled conditions for the first half of next week, with maybe around 2-3mm of rain everyother day.

"More settled conditions are predicted from Thursday onwards

A bit of rain last night, and a heavy dew most nights before that will be keeping the ground fresh, no more than that. Good going looks a cert.

I only live 30 mins away from Aintree and we've not had very much rain for a couple a weeks. The horse fields
which were  a mud pit have dried up a lot for this time of year. Unless it rains real heavy it ain't going to be soft.

watered the National course today according to the RP...

AINTREE began watering the Grand National course on Friday in the build up to the three day festival, which starts Thursday.

Clerk of the course Tulloch said: "The goingremains good on all courses at Aintree.

"With the current forecast looking very uncertain, we took the decision today to begin watering the Grand National course. This was in order to maintain the current conditions and we will look at watering the Hurdle and Mildmay courses over the weekend. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

"The forecast is for generally dull conditions with the chance of a shower over the weekend and into the early part of next week, with conditions predicted to become drier and warmer from Wednesday onwards."

Rained last night as well. I am in Rufford about 15 miles away and there are a lot of puddles about this morning. If Aintree caught a few as well, they won't neeed to water anymore.

Not the remotest chance of soft ground, fine, windy and drying today. A few showers will only keep it fresh. Forget the soft/heavy ground types.

Rained for about three-four hours this morning, quite strong winds now. No more watering needed for sure. Good safe jumping ground for all three days, perhaps now starting off good to soft Thursday and good by Saturday. Should suit everyone.

1 mm overnight,,,No rain this morning to talk about, surprisingly warm.

It must be G/S now, and no requirement for the sprinklers, If he does not water FROM NOW TO THE START... will be Good, Good to soft in places Thu/fri, and definately Good on Saturday, 1 word of caution, they may get hit on Friday night,

So if he waters after racing on Friday, and they get hit, we may have another Newbury situation like we had a few weeks ago.

Plenty of time Saturday Morning to decide IMO
