Hello,
I am going on the Thursday taking Mullys advice and getting there about 10-30am. I  would be grateful for recommendations for Breakfast either in the Racecourse itself or nearby.
Thanks

There isn't really anything near the racecourse.  It's right next to a retail park and industrial estate.  Theres a pub called the Hungry Horse right next to the entrance but I've been there and its not that good.

I would definitely go into Liverpool and get something there where you will be falling over yourself to get something.  Aintree train station is right across the street from the course and only about 10-15 mins from Liverpool Central Station.

You've made the right choice by going the Thursday.

A good option would be the Great Mogul Pub in Maghull, they are laying on a Races Breakfast for about £7 if its booked up there is an excellent cafe next door, I think the big advantage is that you will be able to park your car safely either in the adjacent Maghull Railway station or in a local street, its not a bad area. Maghull station is only two stops from Aintree, about £1.80 return and returning from the days racing you will avoid the masses heading Liverpool bound on the train by jumping on the Ormskirk bound train. The post code for the Mogul is L31 3DE and the phone number to book a brekky is 0151 531 9256, and no I don't have shares in the place! You might want to consider coming in on the M58 rather than the M57, you will avoid a significant amount of traffic depending at what time you plan to arrive.

Your best bet if your coming by car is come off at the end of the 57 at switch island, go past Aintree (There won't be heavy traffic early on) and after about two minutes you come in to Walton Vale. Weatherspoons will be on your left just after the traffic lights by the Black Bull pub, you can park up in one of the side roads just after Weatherspoons.
               Have a great day[;)]

Thanks again for all the advice you are all most helpful. I have got a ticket for the Princess Royal Stand Seats. Please dont Laugh my Mrs has won a Johns Smiths package. I bought her a share in Smithy the Horse for her birthday!  My Son and his mate are going to use the tickets. The package includes a badge for access to ground level areas in the County Stand,Queen Mother,Earl of Derby and Lord Sefton stands. The question is which one are they best going into for a pint? Are there any decent bars at ground level in any of these stands? Again, all your expert advice would be be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Going in Lord Sefton stand upper myself, all bars are ok as it being Thursday , plenty of room and Quality Racing and decent weather forecast...will be a good day  Cool
Report jinxy1955 April 2, 2011 8:03 PM BST
Cheers apindy1, just to clarify they have only access to ground level bars in these stands. Anybody else going on Thursday  and are in the Princess Royal stand seats?
Report wellchief April 2, 2011 8:11 PM BST
Wherever you go on the Thursday there will be loads of space.  If you are on ground level you can have a pint anywhere, not like Cheltenham were you can't take it near the track.

There's plenty of bars and there isn't really any queuing on the Thursday.  Also, they have guys walking round with back packs of Fosters (they look like Ghostbusters!!), and can get a pint off them easily.  Think it's about £3.50 a pint when I was there last year.

Never been in a stand myself but have a great day

I am above you in the Princess Royal roof, apindy1 is spot on, all the bars are good with plenty of staff. The two bars on the ground floor in the Sefton and Derby stands are especially good with the horses coming out and returning to the winners enclosure in between them.
All we need now is a few winners[;)]

Bound to be a mcdonalds nearby [:D]
Report mutley77 April 4, 2011 10:16 AM BST
Not a good place for parking your breakfast. The queues are very long for them portocabins and there not very enticing when you get inside.

Hello Lads,

Jeesus Jinxy, you have told us that your coming down the M62, we have given you the nod on where to have your breakfast, park your car and now you want us scousers to give you a value bet? The olive branch has gone out for diplomatic relations between each end of the East Lancs but don't push it too far mate ! Have a great day, see you in the Parade Ring Bar.
