Nothing else on so watching this sh1te.

Bangladesh have 8 or 9 players under 5 foot, apart from 2 of them the rest looked like they had never seen a cricket before. England have one decent bowler, the rest are supposedly spinners who according to the Sky commentators have the abilty to bowl googlies, arm balls, doosras etc. I  reality they just bowl slow and hope for the best.

Sky are 100% to blame for putting this crap on our tv, womens sport is not upto secondary school level.

I am only still watching coz I cannot believe how bad it is.

Zsa and the thing is we've improved markedly since Robbo took over, before that we were really pants

I'd say it is the sport in the UK where the women have made the least improvement, especially given the money that's been thrown at it

Bangladesh are not a professional team. They're not even part of the WODI championship. Judging the standard of the sport by them would be like judging the football world cup on watching the likes of Saudi Arabia, england or Panama. It's obviously harder in poorer, regressive countries to produce strong womens teams. Bangladesh women have actually done quite well this year, beating Pakistan once and India twice en route to the Womens Asia Cup title.

Sky are 100% to blame for putting this crap on our tv

This is also false. There is some long-term benefit to getting women involved in sport. We also know that the viewing figures are on par with mens List A games - so the demand is there.

All false, apart from the doosras, which I don't think I've ever seen.

SPOT ON RICHIE Wink

And if the opening poster thinks there was nothing else on Sky Sports ,,

that would probably mean he hasn't paid for their sport channels Angry

Ire v Pak.

Where's your money, Zodiac?

I've gone for a min bit of Ire @ 6.8

They beat Sri Lanka in a warm up and have a few players in the WBBL (Joyce + Garth)

Pak are no world beaters and they should not be 2/11 against anybody IMO. I don't know a lot of the players so can only bet small. Getting first use of the pitch is a nice advantage for the Irish.

Good thread. I would begin with how a woman stands as opposed to a man. The man is more upright and investigating of where he can go, and the woman subservient and how low she can go. I don't agree with this, but it creates an argument, and let's see who can keep up without insult?

Just to expand on that, englands best fast bowler (Brunt) is injured. Picking a lot of spinners is a logical adjustment to the surfaces in the West Indies and the tournament structure (which has seen 3 games played on the same pitch) Any other selection would be a huge error.

NZ have picked a spin heavy bowling attack, including 18yo leg spinner Amelia Kerr - if you want to see world class leg spin/googly bowling - tune in to the Aus v NZ match at midnight.
Report Cutter27 November 13, 2018 7:48 PM GMT
The selection of spinners was unusual in such a climate of wet. Surely the fast and medium paced lads would have done better.
Report Richie_Burnett November 13, 2018 7:53 PM GMT
Quality spinners are the best in all T20s (mens and womens)
West Indies pitches are a lot slower than in the past
They are often playing on used pitches which will take turn.

Pacers bowling into the wicket or cuttersLaugh will also be effective. What you don't want is pace on the ball against players that have no power and are generally deflectors.
Report Cutter27 November 13, 2018 7:56 PM GMT
Psychology, Richie, as the change, the juxtaposition of loss against reality upsets, unnerves the opposition, and this creates a climate of win in the initiator.

Show a weakness, and let them inflate, and then: a little pin bursts their confidence with a simple change in tactic. I used to control the 1920's first games.

The opposition need to feel superior, and like Warwick on here, they feel invulnerable, and then they make mistakes, and then kill, kill, kill, as King Lear says.

Just passively make 120 and win almost always, in the absence of early wickets.

I follow a simple rule before betting on equal events: close your eyes and breathe in and hold, and when you can't hold any longer, hold it longer and think, and then breathe out.
