A Ladbrokes customer walks into a shop one morning and asks to take the 6/1 displayed on their screens about his selection.
The member of staff checks the price, confirms with the customer it is 6/1, accepts the bet and hands him his receipt.
Horse wins, customer goes to collect his money and is told his bet has been settled at 5/2 (SP) because the price had changed 2 minutes before his bet was placed.
After a few emails requesting payment at the price they agreed to accept the bet at, they refuse to budge, saying customer may refer it to IBAS as their final decision is to settle the bet at 5/2.
A Letter Before Action is sent, no response, so legal proceedings through the Small Claims Court are started.
Today a cheque arrives for the full amount in dispute plus the SCC fee.
Had this case gone to IBAS, they would unquestionably have ruled in favour of Ladbrokes.
If anyone has a genuine dispute with a bookmaker please contact me via email rather than simply referring it to IBAS.
I went straight to small claims court with j coral and bet got settled in full plus court fee plus interest before we went to court it is the only way to go

They settled it at SP because thei employee failed to circle and sign the 6/1 and they also said the price changed 2 minutes earlier. It was still displayed as 6/1 when punter left the shop.
@roida - It was in the morning, an early price. They settled it at SP because thei employee failed to circle and sign the 6/1 and they also said the price changed 2 minutes earlier. It was still displayed as 6/1 when punter left the shop.
I pointed out to them that the negligence of their employee was not the customer's fault.
A shame it didn't get to court as they would have lost in my opinion.

Would love to hear from anyone who has been given their receipt in a Ladbrokes shop then told BAC have cancelled it.
Very keen to take such a case to court.

Hello Paul, you offer a great service to us all and it's much appreciated.
I have an on-going dispute with Paddy and they're busting my balls wanting my driving licence & passport claiming it's in their T&C's and for data protection Trouble is, they've expired and I can't help but see this as a stalling tactic as they are always very slow to respond and communication gets dragged out for an eternity.
I totally fail to see how data protection comes into this matter as my data is safe with ME...not in THEIR hands! How can they dare demand all this and what can I do?

But when this sort of thing has happened to me one or two times with football prices, I've always simply accepted it. If I didn't and made a fuss, I know I'd be barred or at least restricted. And as their shops are the only ones left which will take a 3-figure bet, albeit win-only in my case, I can't afford to upset them.
