looks the type who'll turn up at the july sale and some silly sausage will pay silly £ for him thinking he's been hiding his light under a bushel...
the reality is probably more like he's a paceless plodder...

not convinced it wants a rise in trip myself lads.
didn't get home on puddingy ground at windsor for me (maybe wasn't too fit mind you).
didn't have the pace to take gaps tonight.
i just think he's got a touch of the 'slows' myself.
upping him in trip might work but not convinced myself...

He finished 7l behind Cape Samba at Windsor who has been given 74, and tonight he was 2l in front of the 67-rated Crosley and 3l in front of the 54-rated Jay Kay.
He'll get 71, imo.

Good spot, HH. That'll teach me for not checking properly!
And to think I'd been watching that horse closely cuz he's by North Light (who's obviously sired a Leger winner from just a handful of runners in this country).
If he's gets 65, I'd say he's well-handicapped of that because whereas the Gosden horse hasn't looked up to much (imo) either in terms of ability of physique (at least from the TV pics), Attwaal looks like he could have a lot more to come given his size, breeding and he's shown ability despite looking backward.

i'm a big NORTH LIGHT fan myself george and the gosden one is one i've been watching myself.
seen lots of these horses over the years...big gangly things...you think that when they fill out and fill their frame they will make up in to a decent horse one day.
doesn't always work out that way.
sometimes we try and see things in horses that just aren't there.
i'm not saying this lad is useless and he won't get better (i'm sure he will) but i just think he looks like a bit of a plodder atm and i'm not convinced the RV stable has been hiding him that much.
they didn't hide him at windsor (didn't get home on bad ground for me) and they didn't hide him at thirsk (i just think JM was trying to go up the rail and when the gaps closed the horse didn't have the pace to get out of trouble).
mind you i have no idea what level of fitness he has and that is the unknown for me.
i'm sure the horse has some level of ability but the race last night at thirsk was pretty poor imv and one or two unraced horses beat him quite easily which is never a great sign for an 'up north' maiden.
let's see what mark he gets and see where RV takes him george...?

HH, fair comment about those 'big gangly things'. There was a good example last season - Al Khawaneej, who I think is over 17 hands, and there were signs of ability in maidens, but given his size you wonder will he always be a 'work in progress'.
As it turns out, from an initial mark of 66, he's now rated 85 after 2 wins, but I wouldn't have been surprised had he gone the other way.
One thing I will add about Attwaal - all 3 starts on soft ground. It looked like his dam wanted a sound surface, and the early signs for Teofilo (admittedly from a limited sample so far) are that his progeny generally prefer a sound surface.
I see Teofilo has already been given a stamina index of 10.4f on the RP site, if that is to be believed and given his dam has thrown a stayer by Bertolini - added to the way I thought he shaped last night, I'd be pretty sure he'll want trips in excess of 10f.

it depends on what mares he has serviced to a great degree imv...
take each horse on it's own merits imv...
trying to lump every horse under the one banner is the fast way to the poor house imv george...
what you say is correct george.as for these 'stamina index' thingys...i take no notice of them tbh.it depends on what mares he has serviced to a great degree imv...take each horse on it's own merits imv...trying to lump every horse under the one bann
i get VERY annoyed when lazy pundits / experts say things like 'this horse is by PRESENTING so it'll go on top of the ground'...
so the mare doesn't count then...?
VERY VERY lazy indeed...
a cheap soundbite imv...
said this before on here but i'll say it again.
SIR HENRY CECIL said 70 % mum / 30% dad....
that's good enough for me.
and on the breeding thing...i get VERY annoyed when lazy pundits / experts say things like 'this horse is by PRESENTING so it'll go on top of the ground'...so the mare doesn't count then...?VERY VERY lazy indeed...a cheap soundbite imv...said this be
saw a glimour at windsor on puddingy ground where he didn't get home for me altho who knows what level of fitness he had that night...?
let's see how RV campaigns him..?
could be july sale material imv...?
