behave Laugh

Had one of my biggest ever losing bets in my life because of swansea.

Astronomic ran in the welsh derby final won by burnpark honcho, and ran awful.

Few weeks later i was in shelbourne and astro was fav for a race,i couldnt have him with stolen, couldnt see anything else in race other than 6,so lumped it(for me),she led up and im screaming like a loon, astro had turned behind and couldnt get her, except astro absol took off and destroyed here before the 3rd bend, had to go and smile and shake hands with swansea lad who owned him,was a small silver lining i can tell you.

Report patrick starr May 10, 2012 11:23 PM BST

They have spent a lot of money there last couple of years and would like to see it do well.
Report patrick starr May 10, 2012 11:26 PM BST
still keep an eye on goings on there and have a couple of pups that'll probably school there but cant say i'd ever return properly as is.

i even liked umming and arrgghing.... everytime you asked for a price neil...  you had me good and proper once or twice.

was it acers wideboy @ 10's  Laugh.....he just ran too wide, i remember i had too take that price down, it even got acers moths out of his wallet for that price.  ANd when i wouldnt lay them again, thye thought i hadnt taken anything.  lol..

and the bitch (cant remember her name now roys dog) in the final without the fav.  I knew you'd be after her.  She was flying going into the 3rd bend.

I use to think...oh no...mail off neil... lol.

Sad
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:08 AM BST
lol, they were fun days mate, much missed. HappySad

remember roys bitch she was a lunatic and a litter sister to a good dog mark wallis had i think?

Very good dog, blue and white could win 4 bends or the fast 6 bend trips, very pretty looking dog, forget its name now...?

Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:21 AM BST
remember the race with roys bitch now you mention it,she was flying into the 3rd bend you were very lucky. lol

snowy mountain aka barnfield elite must have been one of the best dogs we seen round there at that time?

i remember the gymcrack heat where he got dq'd,was a naughty boy that day but never once seen it have a look to inside hare, did it win the glam cup at valley? Know it won loads of comps at swansea.
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:22 AM BST
hes elite...
Report lanza May 11, 2012 12:35 AM BST
Cool  lucky? -my price factored in the 3rd bend trouble ... lucky  haha. Cool

snowy mountain was a great dog there in the beginging...  had one of the quickest sprint sectionals we clocked also.  We told them to put him in a sprint.  lol.

Not too sure about the valley runs off the top of me head.

Big phils dog was another good un, rocky?  swansea jack or something.  Went 7/2 the final, just trying to do the book, shame he had a little niggle.
Report woodmanchester May 11, 2012 12:39 AM BST
Bedwelly Valley, that doesnt sound like North Wales or Pwihelli on the peninsula where i usually go. Been Tenby a couple of times, dunno if it's near there? Wouldnt normally be interested in the flaps but if i was away and a track nearby...
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:46 AM BST
rocky was duffers boy at valley, won the glam cup and phil shouldnt have run him in welsh derby final,he was a much better dog than those in final but the niggle beat phil and the dog.

a proper dog, ruined westmead osprey one night at swindon when running licensed.

We had a great night at ellesmere one night with him in a 6 bend race,no look and first time over trip, msd break, roared up and smashed a tv trophy finalist for fun Happy

went up for their derby and was drawn first round against a very good licensed dog but phil had beaten him last few at valley, rocky smashed out and we went berserk,he cant be beat!

The dog got up the inside of him at 1st,no bother,we can destroy it down the back, like last few at valley.

Going into 3rd and we had gone from 2 behind to 3 behind, wtf?!

Chased it back to a length at line but only winners go through, gutted!

Theres a litter of bitches from rocky by a sister of paradise santana at 9mths old, they are stunning lookers,if they can run like they look...Happy
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:48 AM BST
bedwelty was near bargoed s wales woody and valley is near caerphilly just outside cardiff...not to far from tenby though swansea would have been lot closer.
Report woodmanchester May 11, 2012 12:52 AM BST
Ellesmere Port aint too far from me. When's their Derby?
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 12:58 AM BST
not sure woody,fantastic gallop,proper track.

we went to westhoughton and got beat by solar who was best flapping dog in country at time,no shame in that, but the ground rocky made up that night...at a proper track we had the better dog imo.
Report woodmanchester May 11, 2012 1:06 AM BST
Westhoughton another not too far away but never been. Never went Oldham either but believe no longer there. Went to Bolton a few times, closed also now. They used to flirt between flaps and racing under rules. Only trouble with flaps, i'd like to know the former dogs names that raced under rules
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 1:09 AM BST
that was on a need to know basis woody.lol Wink
Report lanza May 11, 2012 1:10 AM BST
i didnt think he was gonna run either, had been some whispers of the niggle through the week.  Wasnt looking forward to trying to explain either to some on the forum why the forum early show were now voided.  Laugh

phil confirmed something was up, when asked quietly if he wanted anymore. Laugh  He didnt, the book was abit lobsided after that.  It was the first, the last and only time i think we asked phil that question. Laugh

the lads have mentioned a few on the "flaps" thread, that was the class of dog that turned up in them days.

A friend of ours had one in the bolton derby final won by springwood mickey,he was a fantastic local dog and won comps for fun between s wales and west country(exeter glastonbury newton abbot) couldnt get close to mickey, what a dog!
Report patrick starr May 11, 2012 1:20 AM BST
ben you have a message, quite important
Report woodmanchester May 11, 2012 1:22 AM BST

I lived and worked in South Wales in the mid 60's, and went several times to Arms Park. Driving to work in the Rhondda, I used to pass a track on the right called 'Hawthorns' or similar. Went there once too before I left the area. It must have been near Pontypridd somewhere, and I presume it closed long ago!
