Droopys Loner @ 5/1 - Level break she leads the inside and could go a mile clear here. She doesn't get 480m well but with the make up of the race she may just get a long enough lead to stay in front this time. Mill Bling Bling should turn 2nd on the inside but i haven't been impressed with him and i'd question whether he'd go by anyway. Mark My Words and Westmead Maldini will more than likely get too far behind. On the outside i think they'd be better drawn the opposite way around. Go Go Sonic will turn right from boxes where as Geoff edges in approaching the bend. Geoff has been showing huge pace from the 2nd but i don't think he's been going up that well and i could see him possibly taking a whack at boxes. If he doesn't clear Sonic early he could be just held up enough to let Loner get away and she may not be for catching this week.

Coolavanny Bert @ 5/2 - I am a bit puzzled as to why Droopys Jet is favourite ahead of Bert. Yes Droopys Jet loves the rails but can he hold them from Bert on the run up? Added to that he didn't run the bend well Saturday. I was really impressed with Bert last Friday and the pace he showed up to clear Mill Maximus inside him, he also stayed on better and should improve fitness wise again. With a much better draw here and just Droopys Jet to clear run up i think he looks a good bet at the price. Blonde Snapper is mid, mid to wide and should move off from 3 as he did 2 in round 1. Malbay Phanter will be moving wide from 4 which should cause problems for the 5 and 6. The inside 2 look to have the best of the draw to me and whoever goes around between them i think wins and Bert looks more likely to me.
Report woodmanchester May 8, 2012 2:01 PM BST
Firstly, Hills can stick their 1/5 JFK where the sun dont shine! Happy. Highly unlikely to produce another 4.63s split and less than 3 lengths in hand over Adonis from the 1st round. Add to that, Skywalker Gold, good sprint form when 2nd to Jumeirah Dubai at Shawfield, capable of pinging middle and Sykes, big at 9/1, capable of picking up the pieces if others falter, i would much rather be a layer than a player.

On the other hand, 4/5 Bubbly Phoenix looks a good bet to get favourite backers off to a flier in the opening heat. You Mind Me and Snap ought to vie for early supremacy but Phoenix likely to be hard to hold when push comes to shove. Longwood Hawk is well drawn but too late.

Rioga will be looking to be away and gone again but Maximus could be on the premises throughout also. McGee knows what it takes to win the Premier Classic, successful in 1988 with Hit The Lid, Ruthless Man is improving and respected. Lorenzo is struggling to repeat his 28.33s win of April 7th.

Boher Paddy keeps getting dream draws on the fence and, arguably the best all-rounder in this year's Derby, should be hard to contain again. Kennelmate Bucks Blade seems to have changed his style of running. Used to be all action from the traps, staying on nowadays, must be considered and watch out for the time if he comes away! Lister's 3rd string Cruise could be heading out, just like Chieftain when Charlie last had 3 in one heat.

2011 Derby winner and Greyhound of the Year Taylors Sky needs no introduction. He had a soft 2nd round and wouldnt be surprised if Charlie did nothing with him. At 7/4, fancied to be more forward this time, can show his true colours Saturday. Jaytee Pedro, formerly known as Coolavanny Pedro, has been very impressive and rates the danger. Scottish Derby winner Allstar needs to get clear and although firmly put in his place by Judicial Ruling last time, Sid adds spice to a red-hot heat.

What a smashing concluder, which smacks of a strong Irish flavour. Only one winner if Judicial reproduces his last run, could be a bit special. Bugatti needs to kick on in front, while Nova is unbeaten thus far. Tyrur Justin, known as Cabra Noel before the Master took his lead, improved. Looked unlucky and right in the mix, where something must give!

PF has previewed heats 3 and 7 and i wouldnt like to disagree with him. Bit wary of Loner though, she aint been getting home and i noted Geoff rather unlucky in the 2nd round.

Also, yes, Bert could be bowling along in front but Jet set to get a nice tow and if running the bends, may get up. Both races hard to call but does look like PF's found some value. There's hope for him yet siding with English over Irish! Laugh

Good luck everyone! Happy

Was on Loner the last night and had a withdrwn dog T3 I think and of course now a 5 dog race with the whole make-up of the race changed and Loner now odds on, what chance has the punter, T6 got a run at Loner and went by late, what chance has the punter, bets should be VOID in such cases as the whole race changes. Would you bet Loner at odds on ?, not with pf's money, (that he got off Hegarti), never again bet a dog without seeing them parade on TV or live in front of me at the track full stop.

Judicial Ruling a giveaway with Boyles at 4/5. Sure we wont be seeing Hills 4/5 Bubbly Phoenix at the track either.

Jay places like 365 give you the option of voiding a bet if there's a non-runner. If you wait for the parade, you miss early price which is nearly always greater than sp, if you shop around. Early prices are only usually equalled on Betfair, with fair betting percentages, unlike the miserly sp
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y May 9, 2012 8:25 AM BST
Judicial Ruling is worth taking on @ odds on in my opinion. He is by no means certain to go around this week with all the early in the race. Tinas Nova has been going up well, Razldazl Bugatti came back to something like his best last time, King Jaffa can go up well and where will Tyrur Justin go from trap 6? If the race was around Shelbourne Park i'd say he'd edge inwards but he did move wide from 3 last time.
Report woodmanchester May 9, 2012 7:23 PM BST
Just think Judicial could be a bit special. Chunks in hand on the clock and fast dogs in race or not, all over if cracking out like last time. Think he'll strike again while the iron's hot!
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y May 9, 2012 7:52 PM BST
Chunks in hand on the clock, he may do but he ran directly after the bowser went around which history says speeds the track up. Bugatti ran in the last heat on Friday night (heat 8) and on that night the bowser went around after heat 2. I'm not so sure there is that much difference between the 2 runs and whichever of the pair went around i'd expect them not to be caught.

I haven't played on the heat (yet anyway) but i wouldn't be backing Judicial Ruler at odds on.

Bugatti's good but Judicial could be exceptional. He destroyed useful Blue Riband winner Young Sid, also raced straight after the bowser, and would come as no surprise to me if he turns out of the highest order. A flying starter on current evidence, no way would i like to be laying just a shade odds-on

Ruth trio to dazl again in Wimbledon
By Robert Catterson

There's likely to be a hell of a lot of channel switching for the sofa-bound greyhound fans later on tonight. While RTE will be showing live coverage from Shelbourne Park, Wimbledon will be staging the English Derby third round heats live on Sky Sports 3. And it's undoubtedly the best night of this year's Classic so far.
With the defection of Barefoot Allstar, there's now just eight Irish-trained greyhounds remaining in the competition but the card isn't likely to be short of Irish winners. First up to represent the tri-colour will be Razldazl Jayfkay in heat two and fresh from his stunning track record performance last week, he's near impossible to oppose if turning up in anyway near the same form. At best-priced 1/4, he's no betting propostion but he should win with ease again. The first betting propostion of the night comes in heat three but it's not with the Irish runner here in Shelbourne Geoff. Having been a big follower of Pat Curtin's canine all throughout last year's Irish Derby, I'm plenty familiar with the former Brian King-trained charge. However, I've never been convinced that he's a greyhound who will excel around Wimbledon and while he's done well so far in this year's Derby, I can't see him getting much further. And that's why Mill Bling Bling is extremely appealing at 3/1 with Paddy Power to win heat three. There are two Irish representatives in heat four where Razldazl Rioga and Ruthless Man are worthy challengers but Rioga, fresh from a fine win last week, gets the nod at an attractive 13/8 with Ladbrokes. Ruthless Man looks good enough to qualify here too. Heat seven will see Droopys Jet seek his first win of the Derby so far when he locks horns with Coolavanny Bert and Blonde Snapper and while Frazer Black's canine hasn't yet reached the heights expected, this looks a fine opportunity for him to enter the English Derby picture. If there was a greyhound worth backing on the outright front heading into the third round action, he could be the one and there's currently 33/1 on offer about Frazer Black's sole representative. Like heat four, the night's final heat will also comprise of two Irish raiders and the duo of Judicial Ruling and Razldazl Bugatti are likely to dominate the betting too. Judicial Ruling was one of the stars of last week's action but he'll be facing an improving Razldazl Bugatti here and at the prices, Bugatti definitely gets the call. He's a greyhound who can excel around Wimbledon in the weeks to come.
The only heats we haven't mentioned are heats one, five and six, the three heats with no Irish runners. Bubbly Phoenix, formerly trained by Ian Reilly, can resume winning ways in the opening heat while Boher Paddy can provide the answer in heat five, which could very well be one of the races on the card. And at 11/8 with William Hill, reigning champion Taylors Sky will be hugely popular to oblige in heat six. And that price could very well be worth taking.

How on earth can sponsors Hills make JFK only 5/2 outright with just 2 rounds gone and 4 to come? They want their heads feeling! Okay, he has it easy tonight in the 3rd round but i would be betting against breaks like the previous round and likely to meet speedsters like Sky, Judicial, Phoenix, Pedro, Bugatti, Rioga, Bling and Snapper in later rounds, obviously wont find it easy to lead and could struggle, madness!

Well done with the 4/5 Phoenix Addy. Big in my book too and ought to win. Same goes for another you could have had at 4/5 Judicial, both looks bankers. Couldnt go for them in the tipping comp though, coz i reckon sp much shorter.

Hoping for a big improvement from Taylors Sky. If he bounces back, the current 9/1 ante-post will look very large

9.00 small bet on graigues orchid at 14/1, just incase theres trouble outwide

9.35 razldazl rioga at 6/4, should hold 4 early and make all.

9.50 farloe iceman, too big at 10/1 imo.

10.25 coolavanny bert at 2/1, should win if it clears 1 early.

10.40 tinas nova at 5/1 (my main ante post bet so just want it to quilify) worried about the 1 box
but can ping and might just lead round if 3 holds up 5.

Clayfield it's usually non-runner/no bet on the day of the race or previous day. Before that, some bookies class it as ante-post and you could lose your money, always safest to check.

Anyway Addy, what's all this about your "overstaking"? Youre always usually moaning you cant get a decent bet on?! Wink

it was banter woody, suggesting 4/5 was very big in my eyes, and ive had a good 8/10 bet - easier to get a bet when the dog is short.

only really ever overstake woody when i go all in at cheltenham on the money making machine Big Bucks. Genuinely won me an abscene amount of money over the last couple of years and my biggest ever bet was least year when he was odds against beating Grands Crus - believe facts and not hype woody!!!

I hope the derby takes a turn tonight and becomes less predictable, track seems to be running fast might as well be watching 2 bend sprint racing!

going to take a few big price chances Graigues Orchard got a smash in him and A-list ability when does it right, 2 moving off should have a solo 14's is fair due to needing the default with JFK making a mistake, 5-4 to qualify and will be looking to bet him without fav also

Tyrur Jusitn looks big at 10's, ok 5 running out is nut but had it all own way maybe not tonight? Charlie will bring him forward and will prefer this draw and make up imo

Taylors Cruise, got a bit vicious with age chasing his nut off, will much prefer this draw shouldn't lose any lengths run up or at first tonight and we have already seen how much running he has been doing from halfway, another progressive Lister type also

looking forward to it, i'd sign for 2 of the 3 above winning now Excited
