'The Bank Of Big Mike' is open again Laugh I didn't see 1 coming away like that (1.94 sectional) but knew once Mike closed down the back he would win the race.

Droopys Cain has stunning pace, you'd have a slight worry about him to the corner and getting around without bother but once he does he fairly takes off. I can't wait to see him over 550y.

On my travels there i decided to stop at a PP and have a few quid on Skip Soda @ 28/1. I thought he ran a blinder in defeat Saturday night, he absolutely walked from boxes but showed decent gears up before finding trouble on the bend. He absolutely took off down the back only to find more bother at the 3rd. He has a good draw in the next round and with a better break he can make that price look very big.

No bookie had priced him before his first win in Shelbourne, despite being asked.

No bookie priced him before Saturday night either.

I see he is now top price 16/1. He would have been at least double those odds a few weeks ago if placed in the market.

No sign of Airforce Diva in any market either. It is a dreadful service.

MESSI’S RACING CAREER AT AN END
02/05/2012
Brilliant young prospect Kingsmill Messi sustained a very serious injury at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night and is very unlikely to ever run again.

Owned jointly by Barntown father-son team of Aidan and John Roche, Kingsmill Messi was of the top young dogs in training last year after a scintillating unbeaten run through the Future Stars Unraced Stake at Enniscorthy in October.

Too old for the National Puppy Stake, the October ’09 son of Head Bound and Lunar Vacation was put by for the winter and had his return held-up by a slight injury. He had caught the eye with a brilliant return run in second behind Ballymac Vic last Saturday week at Shelbourne and flew into the third bend in the first round of the Larry Dunne Open on Saturday. However he faded badly up the straight and it was obvious that something was amiss.

Aidan Roche confirmed yesterday that the dog has a very serious wrist injury and is unlikely to be seen on a track again.

Sad very disappointing

Question:: Why is Tyrur Big Mike not odds on tonight??

Again he has a great draw, Minefield in 3 will edge rails and does not have the pace up of Big Mike. Sparta Maestro in 5 can't match Mike to the corner either so basically he traps, goes up leads around and wins. Loughteen Blanco would be better drawn off the rail in my opinion.

Bet365 now the only firm with the four heats priced up and they revised their betting to include the two reserves. Paddys have taken the SPK card now and Boyles don't look interested in pricing at all? Any value in the prices? I was interested in Hillcroft Joe at 10/1 with Paddys, but of course they're down now..

Skip Soda interested me when Priceless Spark was a runner, problem is i can see Droopys Cain leading up Tyrur Lanney and if leading the inside or following the top around he'll be too strong in all probability.

Tyru Big Mike @ 11/10 was way too big for me, i had him in 4/6.

Skywalker Puma looks a fair price at 4s.

Report DefiniteOpinion May 5, 2012 12:20 PM BST
Do you think? He is short of EP in a race where both the top and bottom have plenty. Probably a touch too big but not enough to tempt me in. Hillcroft Joe 16/1 too big.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y May 5, 2012 12:26 PM BST
Yeah he doesn't have great pace up but i think the race could be run to suit, a lot of pace up and they may not get loose. If the bottom gets loose he wins but @ 7/4 he can do so, same with the top at his price. I was impressed with Puma last week in defeat but with his running style he could end up a dog that looks impressive in defeat a lot.

I put him in @ 12/1, as you say ahead of Minefield and Harbour Watch. Once he can trap in front of Loughteen Blanco which he is well capable off he could lead up on the fence. Obviously you'd be hoping Big Mike makes a balls of the start but 16s is on the big side

Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y May 5, 2012 4:22 PM BST
They had the whole card up on the night of the 1st round of the 600 however the amounts matched probably led to them not bothering.

Heat 1: €2,150
Heat 2: €1,564
Heat 3: no betting due to NR
Heat 4: €4,660
Heat 5: €2,273
Heat 6: €4,116

The other races on the night had pennies matched, no idea how much was matched last week. I've asked for markets quite a few times but got told once there is not enough interest in it, i didn't buy that excuse but perhaps the numbers back that up.
Report DefiniteOpinion May 5, 2012 4:50 PM BST
Can they not see it is going to take a while to get going. It must be persevered with as it has huge potential. I don't see what they have to lose putting it up even with small initial margins, is it really that much hassle to them? They will be making money on it regardless. How do you contact them?

Big Mike beaten but sure these things happen, they all charged the boxes and then he stumbled leaving them. I thought he ran a blinder as did Saprta Maestro.

Huge early on the inside in the 2nd heat, the bottom has a great draw if he can come away from the box, there is a huge run in him (may not be in this comp but he'll take off some night). Big Mike wouldn't want to do what he did Saturday night, he seemed to break fine and then just stumble.

The ist semi looks a match and i'd saide with the better drawn of them.

Bling Bling Buzz is of no worry to me re Big Mike's chances. The only slight worry i have is the brilliant early inside him but even at that Mike stays middle, middle to wide on the bend so it should not prove that much of a problem. The only way Buzz will get near him is if Mike misses it (or something happens like Saturday) but that is a rare occurance.

I actually want to be with Sparta Maestro over Cain due to Swift Marathon drawn on his outside. I think Swift Marathon can lead Cain with a good start. Lanney in 4 will edge inwards run up which should leave Sparta to get a nice run up once he traps decent.

Never ever been able to get Big Mike right. Fluffed his lines again, sorry about the bum-steer Frank. Didnt bok you anyway PF, was only my saver. I backed Marathon ante-post but hard task again against Cain in final. Anyway, after the Dolores treble at Wimbledon last night, you should be able to take a little blooded nose. Happy. I had said never again Big Mike, but renaged. Back to not touching it with a barge pole now! Happy

Anyway, dont blame me PF, blame the dog. Gone to pieces at the start! Plain. I'm in good form in the Derby, so no jinx. Some people just jinx themselves! Plain

I'm siding with Sparta Maestro in the final. Again i think he is the better drawn and he was unlucky not to turn 2nd in the semi final only for Mister Glenard checking off wide at the bend and baulking him. Droopys Cain at that stage had basically the whole field in front of him but railed well to miss all the trouble and end up 2nd off the 2nd. Once getting clear he was absolutely majestic but i also felt Sparta Maestro recovered well from the bang. Everything will be looking rails here bar Sparta Maestro and with a good break he could get the run of the race as Cain will probably have a wall of railers in front of him. If he gets loose of course i'm worried but on the draw Sparta Maestro looks the better bet to me.

That's your chance Woody, whichever leads between Marathon, Flandys and Buzz will be hoping for a pile up. Buzz still could pull up or do anything though Laugh

2 brilliant dogs in that final, the race didn't go perfectly but the draw still won the day with Maestro staying out at the 3rd bend and sweepeing to the front.

Tyrur McGuigan 28.68
Subway Ruth 28.56 (2.07sec)
Tyrur Sugar Ray 28.32 (2.13)

Airforce Diva 28.42

That looks like a real good effort from Sugar Ray, defo looks a dog to stay on the right side of. Was very impressed by Smoke Pixie too when she won the Cork Oaks recently.
