Virgin is approx 1.5 seconds delayed compared to sky. It used to be slightly longer but I have just checked and it seems to have improved (I have them side-by side here.
Just to add - I assume you are talking about the sky sports channels only? I'm not sure about the other channels.

As a point of interest, up until a few years ago, Virgin was a couple of seconds ahead of Sky but they changed the way they received their feed and went from being 2 secs in front to 2 secs behind.

Thanks Gin, yeah Sky Sports is my main concern. Always been with sky but i'm moving into a new place soon and being in a block i've read that sometimes they have communal dishes with only one sky feed per flat and you can't just get sky to put your own dish up and wire it into your flat. I'll have to look into it but don't fancy being another 1.5 seconds behind
