Have to say Norwich played very well.
However, can't believe how many times we were caught in possession.

Shocking decision by Jansen to clatter into the striker from behind and give such a cheap free kick away 21 yards from goal when Cooper was front on to the striker and had it covered, this cost us the crucial 1st goal and set the pattern for the game, somehow they do not inspire me with confidence and i fear we will only make the play offs.

Yes...we needed that point !   Jack Clarke bit concerning !

Leeds United moved to the top of the Championship as Kalvin Phillips equalised in the 11th minute of injury time against Middlesbrough.

Play was held up late in the second half while paramedics tended to Leeds teenager Jack Clarke, who reported feeling unwell after coming off at half-time.

The 18-year-old was carried off on a stretcher receiving oxygen and taken to hospital as a precaution, but Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa confirmed he was feeling better in the dressing room.

The delay resulted in 12 minutes being added on and Phillips headed past Darren Randolph in the 101st minute to take his side a point clear of Norwich, who slip to second.

Relive Middlesbrough 1-1 Leeds as it happened

Middlesbrough seemed certain to bounce back with a victory following their shock FA Cup defeat at Newport in midweek after Lewis Wing had scored from 12 yards early in the second half.

Leeds went close to equalising at the Riverside when Pontus Jansson's header hit the post before Phillips' dramatic leveller.

Norwich will retake top spot on Sunday if they avoid losing to bottom side Ipswich.

Despite the loss at League Two Newport in their fourth-round replay on Tuesday, Boro are in good form in the Championship. They are unbeaten in six matches and have taken four points from fellow promotion contenders West Bromwich Albion, and now Leeds, in successive weeks.

The two sides drew 0-0 at Elland Road in August, and the game looked to be heading the same way after a lacklustre first half.

But 23-year-old Wing showed excellent composure just two minutes after the break to place the ball past Kiko Casilla while under pressure in the box.

Leeds dominated possession over the 90 minutes, but failed to create any clear-cut chances until midway through the second half. First Kemar Roofe was denied twice by Boro goalkeeper Randolph before Jansson glanced his header against the upright and former Boro striker Patrick Bamford skewed the rebound off target.

However, Leeds were not made to pay for those missed opportunities as Phillips netted his first goal of the season from Liam Cooper's flick.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis told BBC Tees:

"In the first half we were the better team and our midfield players were fabulous. When we were attacking, we were having five or six players in the box and around that area, which was fantastic.

"We tired a bit in the second half, Leeds came into it as the game went on, and we certainly didn't need to concede a goal from a set-play - something that's really disappointed me."

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa told BBC Radio Leeds:

"We could have won the game. We had 15 minutes in the first half where we were not at ease, but apart from that segment we dominated the game, we created chances, we deserved to score the goal and probably deserved to score other goals."

Big thanks to @Boro medical team and a special mention to @LUFC Rob Price for today! Jack has left the hospital now happy and smiling. Hopefully back on the pitch very soon.

Norwich lose....... Leeds win.....we're top again !

Leeds United took advantage of Norwich's slip-up at Preston by beating Swansea to return to the top of the Championship.

Leeds defender Pontus Jansson marked his 28th birthday with the opening goal at Elland Road, reacting first to Ezgjan Alioski's blocked shot to fire into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Alioski also provided Leeds' second goal for Jack Harrison, who nodded past Erwin Mulder at his near post a minute after the Swansea goalkeeper had kept out his powerful drive.

Oli McBurnie's penalty gave Swansea late hope after Luke Ayling's clumsy foul on Joel Asoro, but Leeds held on to move a point clear of Norwich, who lost 3-1 at Deepdale.

Relive Wednesday's Championship action
Clear Swansea chances were scarce but they had come close just after half-time when Matt Grimes' deflected free-kick struck the post.

That set-piece was earned by a burst of pace on the edge of the box from winger Daniel James, who nearly joined Leeds in January, but otherwise he was kept relatively quiet by the hosts' defence before being substituted after 67 minutes.

Leeds have faltered somewhat since a run of seven successive wins in November and December, and victory in this match could have been wrapped up long before McBurnie caused some late nerves, with Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe both going close to extending the home side's advantage.

However, their two first-half goals proved enough to maintain a three-point gap to third-placed Sheffield United.

They have a 10-day break until their next game at home to Bolton on 23 February, while Swansea are in FA Cup fifth-round action on Sunday, when fellow Championship club Brentford visit the Liberty Stadium.

Would be great to see Leeds back in the bigtime but they are starting to look vulnerable for automatic promotion imo. Their recent form has been patchy and Kemar Roofe, 1 of their best players this season, has today been ruled for an unspecified time period with knee ligament damage. Norwich and Sheff Utd seem to have the momentum at the moment although admittedly it has been a rollercoaster of a division and there is still a long way to go but I can see Leeds ending up in the play-offs.

Fined £200,000 for 'Spygate'
Report The Leopard February 18, 2019 8:22 PM GMT
Yes...just saw that :

Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United have been fined £200,000 by the English Football League for watching opponents train before matches.

A member of Leeds' staff was found acting suspiciously outside Derby's training ground before the fixture between the two sides on 10 January.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa said he had sent a member of staff to watch every team they have played this season train.

The EFL found Leeds breached rules over treating teams with "good faith".

Leeds have also received a formal reprimand from the EFL, which is bringing in a rule to prohibit clubs from viewing their opposition training in the 72 hours preceding a game unless invited to do so.

The EFL said in a statement that Leeds' conduct "fell significantly short of the standards expected" and it "must not be repeated".

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey added: "The sanctions imposed highlight how actions such as this cannot be condoned and act as a clear deterrent should any club seek to undertake poor conduct in the future.

"We will now look to move on from this incident and commence the discussions about introducing a specific regulation at a meeting with all clubs later this month."

The Football Association has also issued a formal warning to Leeds, Bielsa and a club video analyst.

"The FA will take appropriate action should further evidence of this nature come to light in the future," a spokesman said.

I also fear that we will only make the play offs from what i have seen however Bielsa has worked wonders with that team which is largely the same as last season and if we went up automatically he is truly a magician.
Report nomiskroy February 19, 2019 6:33 PM GMT
Bit confused. What's the difference between spying and scouting. Don't scouts visit most teams, from league to non-league.
Why's one allowed, and one not.
