Name a midfielder that scores more goals than Lampard.It is a sad state of affairs,there just aren't world class names to pick,so Roy has to make do with the players he has.Nobody will ever agree on team ,or squad selection,meanwhile it doesn't make a lot of difference,as their is a distinct lack of class players to choose from.

I would pick Aaron Lennon ahead of Downing all day long. Pace is always a dangerous weapon, another thing that Downing does not possess.

unbelievable decision, just what has hodgson been watching this season? besides this season i didn't rate downing anyway and the thing about him ia he hides. he squares up a defender and passes it back, takes no responsibility and you can't have cowards on the flanks if you want to do damage at international level. i'll totally give up if he gets nowhere near the first eleven, wake up hodgson!
