Anyone who knows even a little bout S american footy mite be surprised at the "to qualify" prices 3.65 have for this. I would have thought UDC would have been 1/3, much better than Libertad and have advantage of 2nd leg at home. Was amazed to see 3.65 have them 8/11.

Overpriced, but not by much. A different proposition than Dep Quito / Godoy / Penarol / Atl Nacional. Will be a much tighter game
Report Biscuit1979 May 14, 2012 3:09 PM BST
If UDC are within 2 goals of them after the 1st leg, they will go through.
Report scaredmoney May 14, 2012 3:10 PM BST
Will Libertad go at UDC like Quito did?
I'd fancy them to turn over a one goal deficit against anyone at home, that performance against Quito at was simply superb.
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 3:18 PM BST
Just as a side note to this, there is already an Asian move on UDC for the 1st leg at Libertad. Some firms here can't even split them for 1st leg, so that 8/11 is overpriced, by quite a bit imo.
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 3:21 PM BST
Paddys seem 2 have given up tryna price up copa lib it seems after last weeks Evens on UDC to beat quito which ended up going off 2/9 with them!
Report scaredmoney May 14, 2012 3:26 PM BST
a clueless mob at the best of times arnt they....i wouldnt be going overboard about them away from home...not quite the same on the road
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 3:31 PM BST
This tie is completely 50/50 IMO and I will be backing Libertad in the 1st leg.
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 3:32 PM BST
u say that though monkey but in past year have away wins in uruguay, brazil, argentina and ecuador under their belts in copa suda/lib, and obv r different league at home. if this tie is 50/50 joey barton is a well rounded member of society....

Go on then genius give me your to qualify odds
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 3:51 PM BST
bit touchy there innit stringer! it's like this. Sporting have it 1/2 + 7/5, i thought even that was slightly big on UDC. It just can't be a 50/50 tie, how can it be man. UDC r now a major force in S america, won the Copa suda, **** all over every1 in Chile and as was seen once again in last round are very very strong at home. Also how can it possibly be 50/50, look at the outrite prices ffs, UDC r bout 5s, libertad 14s.
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 3:54 PM BST
Libertad are quality and will be a much tougher challenge than the mugs from Ecuador. Don't get me wrong La U are good but they get so much HYPE. This will be a real test for them against a strong physical side who also play good football (La U struggle badly with set plays and lack any height). The odds are totally wrong and as I said i'll be opposing them in the 1st leg.

I would have UDC around 1.6 to qualify

Libertad are no mugs but in the group stages they dropped 4 points to Vasco who UDC comfortably beat in the Copa Sud 6 months ago. Libertad were knocked out of that competition by LDU who went on the final where they were beaten 4-0 by............UDC.

Don't think there's any doubt UDC are the better of the 2 sides and the 2nd leg is in Chile.
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 3:58 PM BST
Vargas was key in them beating LDU and he isn't there now.
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 4:01 PM BST
i agree wit both of ye as to the fact libertad r no mugs, i actually don't UDC shud b as they r 4 1st leg as libertad is a hard place 2 go. saying that though, 2nd leg at home is key and the outrite prices don't lie as 2 the difference in class between the 2 teams. was gonna say same ting bout vargas, but they have regrouped unreal well without him in fairness stringer, Fernandes and Henriquez have covered his loss.
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 4:02 PM BST
I'm not saying La U won't qualify btw, just don't want you to be mugged off with the prices. i wouldn't take 1/2
Report Biscuit1979 May 14, 2012 4:02 PM BST
Not really missing him though are they?

Fernandes is doing well and Henriquez is their new wonderkid.

I agree Libertad are no mugs, but you can't have the tie as 50-50 given what UDC have done in the past year AND with the 2nd leg being in Chile.
Report Biscuit1979 May 14, 2012 4:03 PM BST
I do also agree with you Stringer that UDC are probably worth opposing in the 1st leg. Libertad are strong at home. But i can't see anything other than UDC hammering them in the 2nd leg.
Report clintboon May 14, 2012 4:04 PM BST
They have shown no signs wotsoever of missing Vargas so far.
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 4:09 PM BST
Well they haven't really been tested yet apart from by Atletico Nacional

Now is when we'll find out
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 4:10 PM BST
Find it ironic Vargas hasn't settled in to Napoli yet, mabye he'll get loaned back for a season
Report scaredmoney May 14, 2012 4:12 PM BST
Not been tested? Shocked

They got battered 4-1 away from home and came back from it
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 4:13 PM BST
As i said b4 on here, he shud nevr have went napoli, udinese r a similar type club where he'd b startin all time wud suit much bettr.

lol there at scared, i was gonna bring that up 2 stringer but thought i'd let him of!!
Report Stringer May 14, 2012 4:16 PM BST
lol scaredmoney

true they did great to come back, but what i mean is, in these next stages of the competition is where they will be tested against opponents of similar or higher quality

Depor Quito are much inferior to them in quality and have altitude.

It's against the Boca's and Santos' where we will see what they are made of Excited
Report joe9000 May 14, 2012 4:19 PM BST
boca v flu is another interesting quarter final. i originally fancied Flu 2 qualify but now they have doubts bout fred and deco so must b advantage boca. sporting and 3.65 disagree on their prices as 2 who is fav, boca wit 3.65 and flu at sporting.
Report scaredmoney May 14, 2012 4:21 PM BST
yeah i know mate, just teasing Devil

The big tests will come and they wont be able to play one at the back and go forward all guns blazing against the likes of Boca and Santos but wouldnt it be refreshing if they did!! Laugh

Circumstances dictated how they played against Quito but fu ck me,it was good to watch!!
Report Biscuit1979 May 14, 2012 4:24 PM BST
Perhaps Vargas will get more of a look in if Napoli sell Cavani and/or Lavezzi this summer.

Anyway i'm going for Boca/UDC/Santos and Corinthians to progress.

A Boca v UDC semi final will be well worth watching and hopefully a UDC v Santos final.
Report Stringer May 16, 2012 5:50 PM BST
Fernandes a doubt tonight after picking up a knock. All the more reason to lay La U.
