It will all make a lot more sense when you realise that the word 'Souvenir' in Russian means 'Gift'.

Surely just a v low end "looking for something of value" to be sent scam? if these mails are sent by the million im sure enough mugs will ensure the said ruskie will be showered with "gifts" that can be re-sold.

I suggest you ignore.....you never know where these scams are leading.
A month ago I was in Paris on business. Suddenly a woman picks a "gold2 ring up off the floor. She wants to give me the ring. She asks me if I think it is real gold. It did have a hallmark. She is insistent I take the ring. She does keep a distance so there is no pickpocketing tried on.....where is this scam going? I gave her the ring and scurried off.

Can't beat a bit of scurrying I say!

People should do much more of it!

1) if it happens at a cashpoint another member of the gang will have your card out of the machine whilst you have turned around.

2) you take the "gold" ring then they play on the fact that you think you've got something for nothing by asking you for a small donation to help feed their family and you end up buying a worthless piece of crap for a fiver or, more frequently, a lot more.

Both have been tried on with me many moons ago with partial success...

Having checked the place out on Google maps, as suggested by Aunty Post,

the place does look very bleak indeed.

I'd try any scam I could think of to get out of that Sh1thole!

For example there was a person from York I saw this week begging for handouts from sad old men. She thought including a picture of a hot young lady would get them reaching for their debit cards.
