Yes I'm on those two too.

Rebecca is the only solo artist I've considered backing so far. Not gone in yet but I might do soon.
Report Henry VIII September 20, 2010 6:45 PM BST
You should do it soon Benjy. She was 15 at VC, SJ this morning and I think 13 everywhere else, so she's shortening (at the moment anyway).
Report ajchrisbro September 20, 2010 8:31 PM BST
I agree Henry 14's is big she looks the one getting the help from prods this year
rumours that a sobby story in tmrws papers re rebecca
Report Henry VIII September 21, 2010 8:59 AM BST
Yes aj, but neither her price nor Matt's are massive. I'm on them both because the pantomime loves transformation, and of course they've got excellent voices.

I think Cowell had her singing to the floor, the judges house will have her dealing with her issues and gaining confidence blah blah, and then the first live show will have her confident and hair down (although even in a bun she is very beautiful).

Same with Matt - scruffy, unshaven, "I'm a bum" - I think they'll scrub him up, and I hope he loses the cap.

(Same with Katie - rat's nest hairstyle, scatty - but, unlike Katie, Rebecca and Matt tick all boxes so far).
Report ajchrisbro September 21, 2010 9:45 AM BST
always good to check out what these acts have actualy done rather
than what they have been (ahem) told to do at audition,
you make a good point about the makeovers, greatly underestimated imo the influence this has
on the public, the wrong makeover has ruined many a potential good un before they have even sung

obvious potential losers in the makeover stakes this year could be the 'new' boyband
Im sure they would get the girlband spot on this year so dont expect harlets outfits for them etc
Report squares September 21, 2010 10:52 AM BST
wasn't the bun a hair piece?
Report Henry VIII September 21, 2010 2:21 PM BST
wasn't the bun a hair piece?

Maybe best to leave it as a bun wig if she hasn't much hair to play with. She is genuinely pretty (unlike Leona or Alexandra) and the sob story bullsh1t may stave off female jealousy.

Rebecca 5.3 2f  Matt 4.5 f Cool

Anyone got a convincing reason why the winner won't be one of these two?

I'm on John Adeleye too @ 30 btw, just to be sure Grin

at some point they will have to sing an up tempo song.....they haven't as yet....if/when gamu reappears....she's already shown she is at ease regardless....that's the danger with those two....perhaps.Mischief
Report deejayric October 3, 2010 11:36 PM BST
Strange that someone not even in the 12 is the biggest danger duffy, but I agree - Gamu's a class act and will do v well if she gets in.

I'm still convinced all this 'wildcard' stuff is for Gamu's benefit - that there were doubts about her eligibility at the time of the judges' houses recordings. Can't see any other reason Katie would've got through ahead of her tbh.

can't remember when I got on - I can check though.  I could only get 14/1 and 9/1.

Forget the braggers, the attention seekers, those who seek to pat themselves on the back every day and defend their selections come what may.

This is the thread of the series.

Seriously well done Sir.

And why haven't you ttt'd this ;)

It's always obvious after the event isn't it? At the time they were nowhere near favourites - Cher, Gamu, Aiden, 1D/Liam were all ahead of them.

Ah! Well.
Report RMB © November 30, 2010 8:50 AM GMT
Their prices, if you wanted an actual bet on them, were 5 and 5, so slight odds against, like Barca last night, except you only had to wait 90 minutes opposed to 3 months for the payout. Maybe we should post congratulatory threads to all Barca backers yesterday or maybe that would just be moronic.

Ashley, from my experience it's important to watch XF right from the start - I felt Matt and Reb were possible contenders as soon as their backgrounds, personalities, hard-luck 'battling' life-stories etc. were introduced and before they'd even sung. All that was missing was the voice.

Obviously the voice is really important - I backed Stace last year based on personality and back-story, but in the end her voice just wasn't strong enough. Luckily this year, as soon as Matt and Reb sang I felt they were much more the complete package.

IMO the hardcore XF voters cement their favourite acts right from the very first audition shows (Leon being another case in point). It deffo pays to watch them and go with your instincts.

Anyway, cheers again y'all for the kind words Happy
Report Dizzy42 December 14, 2010 12:12 AM GMT
Well done again deejay - and I have to echo your sentiments that all the clues that you need are in those early audition shows.  You can name virtually all of the acts who make it through to judges house and probably 80% of the final line up purely by the editing, the back stories, the contestants that repeatedly appear in highlight / synopsis packages.  It's all blindingly obvious to those familiar with how XF works...

Yes, you definitely do still need the voice and the talent, but normally even this criteria narrows it down to just five or six possibles.  I had it down to four this year before judge's house - three of whom made the final (just Aiden let me down).  So it's not rocket science.  It pays to get in early...
Report deejayric December 14, 2010 12:22 AM GMT
Totally. And knowing how XF works helps massively with the eliminations too - the regulars on here were totally on the money every week, while the tourists backing Katie at 1.2 left shouting 'fix'... Grin
Report roach December 14, 2010 8:31 AM GMT
