Blue, are these Beyer speed figures at Sam Houston credible. It seems that all those WRD horses that have run there have ran personal bests even when well beaten. |

About as credible as the Hoosier Beyer figures Mr Q.

The broader question should be "are Beyer numbers credible anywhere?" since they decided to apply fudge factors to normalize the data towards its historical mean. Add turf (Beyers NEVER worked on turf) and various types of synthetics and what we're seeing is more fudging than real speed figures.

I must admit at the tracks I look at on a regular basis, I take more heed of the quality of horses in the race and the pace to get an idea of how good the run was.
