Yes it's a dig at her. I'm a bit surprised because Muaary of all people knows what it's like to have tunnel vision when it comes to singles success.

As it turned out she mugged but if she had played that (meaningless) mixed doubles match the night before and it had an effect on her level the next day she'd have been left with the feeling of 'what if', especially with that peach of a draw.

Also she was having a very similar progress to the USO 21 at least until the Sun match. I do think she saw herself as a contender.

No sign yet of Amanda ending her summer downtime. We may have written off edy as little prematurely.

That Lys qualies loss could end up pivotal.

The problem is not that she prioritized singles before doubles. The problem is that she accepted his invitation instantly without thinking about what she would do if she did well in the singles. It's not like there weren't lots of other players who would have loved to play mixed with Andy at Wimbledon. If Andy Murray of all people has a problem with how you handled something (and he's the biggest supporter of GB tennis AND women's tennis and a very honorable man), then you **** up.

I still think her decision shows the kind of commitment that had been questioned so medium to long term it's encouraging. Rather than just pulling out she could have had a chat with him and they could have reached a compromise. The schedulers screwed it up though putting the mixed doubles match fourth match on.

We're both agreed that Murray is angry about it though.

I laughed. She's the whole package really and I hope the tour realises that.

It reminded me a bit of katherine Ryan on Countdown saying 'I'm so proud of me' and giving herself a prize for getting the maths question right. (She actually got it wrong)

Given that de Minaur was already replaced by some unranked, basically retired portuguese previously barely top1000 player and Norrie by Petros Tsitsipas...I dare not think who gets into the olympic field with any further withdrawals.
