Rublev got his rankings points and prize money back.
https://twitter.com/AndreyRublev97/status/1764711192084570149 I would still like a translation of what was said. |

Scandalous to let him off like that.

this scam is still ongoing!

Iga has Collins and Noskova in her first two matches at IW if those two make the 2nd and 3rd round respectively.
|
By:
Steve Johnson served for a straight sets victory and has had match points in three different games. Now 5-5 in the second set.
|
By:
Nishioka had a bunch of match points in the second set tiebreak. Now a break down in the final set.
|
By:
A couple more missed match points for Johnson in the tiebreak to bring his total to seven. 1 set all now.
|
By:
Both Shang and Nava won after having had been down match points in the second set today.
|
By:
Halep has been freed.
|
By:
Has had her ban reduced from the 4 years to 9 months and will be free to play again immediately.

SI-MO-NA, SI-MO-NA!

Don’t have any strong views either way on this, but the fact that she has ended up with a ban that ended in mid 2023 and has not been able to play since then goes to show how bad the process has been. It shouldn’t take this long to resolve… |

Tennis Talk 2023: Vol 29 (US Open) By SamuelMertensBertens on 1 Sep 23 13:22 Updated fave five!GavrilovaCornetRogersCirsteaSimona Halep! (replaces BZS due to retirement) Now don't let me down, Simona Tennis Talk 2023: Vol 29 (US Open) By wisewords on 1 Sep 23 21:47 WOW. you're adding a drugs cheat? some of us believed in Simona all along |
By:
It will be really interesting to see what she can do. She was ranked world no 7 at the time of her suspension, earlier in that summer she had just won Toronto and made SF of three grass tournaments she played including Wimbledon. But her clay record that year was not as good as it had been.
Now she's 2 years older (33 instead of 31) which can be big at that age, and has been out of the game for two years with all that comes with that, but that means she will have had 2 years of resting and recovered from whatever ailments she was playing with. Taking all that into consideration I am not having high expectations but I hope she can at least have a good tournament here and there so we, and she, don't have to listen to the "oh, she was was only good because of the drugs" silliness. |
By:
When can we expect her on the courts again? I take it she lost her ranking like Sharapova did and would need to be relying on WC's which I'm sure she will get to most events besides Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
|
By:
Or does she even lose all her ranking points? If the ban was reduced to 9 months, she then didn't get the chance to defend the points she earned in the summer of 2022 because the appeal took so long.

Wonder if Simona will choose to lure Patrick towards being her coach again.
|
By:
oh she is suing!
I did not know. This is from a few weeks back. https://www.reuters.com/sports/tennis/tennis-halep-sues-canadian-company-over-supplement-linked-doping-suspension-2024-02-15/ , |

Great to see Simona eligible to play again. Don’t let Patrick anywhere near your drinks on your return! |
By:
I love how this probably started as a fan conspiracy and now this is something every player is aware of, to the point that when Holger Rune rehired Patrick and this was mentioned in his comments, he replied to it.
|
By:
If it helps Rune survive a tough 1 hour match without him starting to walk funny I'm all for it.
|
By:
For an entire year wisewords kept asking "Any Simona updates?" and then when there are updates he is a no show.
|
By:
yeah very classic.
|
By:
|
By:
Losing to Nava from that kind of position is a tough pill to swallow, but retiring seems a bit of an overreaction.
|
By:
So with Simona and Patrick. Am I right in thinking that she's disappointed with the lack of support from him through all of this but not thinking he is to blame for drugs ending up in her body? Because if the latter, why would she sue a Canadian supplement company for sending her supplements contaminated by R-stat that was not on the label?
|
By:
On the changed IW schedule, I'm thinking they wanted men's R1 to start one day earlier to sell more tickets. And to be able to do this without having a crazily packed schedule, they decided to move back women's qualifying back a day and start on a Sunday, even though theoretically they could have had both the men's and women's qualies on Mon-Tues.
|
By:
If Patrick and his academy were involved, they would not do so without the players' agreements imo. He and his coaches would not just go and spike player supplements without their knowledge.
And if they have the players' agreements, they will also have some sort of proof for it as insurance if a player gets naughty ideas in wanting to put primary blame on the academy. |

Ponchet just touched the net at 3-3 in the final set tiebreak.
|
By:
In what is bound to lose her the match.
|
By:
Touched it on an overhead close to the net. I've seen that an astonishing number of times lately.

Limbo dancing need to be introduced as a drill on tennis coaching sessions.
|

or some alternative version of it.
|
By:
Just tell players to not do full swings from up to down when you are centimetres from the net imo.
