She has lots to defend from the Sunshine Double and is not playing next week, so this might be a now or never chance for her today. I'm not exactly sure what others are defending though.

Overcoming the phorum jinx would be even more impressive than coming back from a set down and 1-5 against Marketa.
Sorana never does things the easy way. maybe at the US Open she will finally achieve the top 20
She's certainly in form so no reason to write her off repeating or even exceeding what she achieved in IW and Miami last year.

To repeat it for both is a gigantic ask. However a good result in IW could be enough for top 20. And being a seed will help a bit as she will only need 3 wins to repeat her result from IW last year.
