"Shot-Clock Reductions: A new maximum of eight seconds will be introduced between first and second serves. This also applies after a let on first or second serve."

There's an article in the Guardian suggesting their interaction had become minimal anyway.

Despite everything Andy's achieved (and he's achieved a lot) I think one of the main reasons he carries on is the feeling of having been short changed. It's the flipside, the darker side of the endless dominance of Fed, Nadal and Novak.

When I was watching Grigor getting emotional after losing to Novak I think it was that same feeling of being short changed. Like really? I can't even have this? You've won three slams this year, I'm playing the best I've played in years and you can't even let me have the Paris Masters? REALLY???

Maybe the only one that doesn't feel short changed is Stan. I think he got exactly the best he could have hoped for. No complaints.

I felt a bit sorry for Danilina. She was probably looking forward to playing some fun dead doubles rubbers and hanging with the big 'Kazakh' stars but then Rybakina can't recover from the horrors of Cancun, Danilina ends up having to step into the singles spotlight and obviously get humiliated.

She looked absolutely crushed in the Juvan match.

I know everyone has been worrying about what Kyrgios is up to. The Express reported this week he's going to be a commentator for the finals in Turin on the Tennis Channel.

The new role suggests Kyrgios may be considering his next steps after recently revealing that he hasn't got much time left in the sport due to the worsening condition of his body after 'all the drinking and partying' he has done during his wild career. 'No f***ing chance. No way. Bro, there's no chance I'm playing until 33 / The schedule is out of control. I'm getting old, I'm getting old. Twenty-eight, yeah - but all the drinking and partying, I'm like 57 Laugh It's a lot of training, a lot of work, and I just want to be able to eat whatever I want, drink what I want to drink. It's a hard lifestyle. The dedication these guys show... I did a bit of that last year to show the world I'm still one of the best.

Opponent will be local hero Stacey Fung, who will have an ever raucous canadian crowd behind her.

That short changes Marino a bit and does her injustice. She hit plent of balls and played a vital role in them qualifying for the finals to begin with in a very close tie against Belgium.

Only because Marino had tired Bonaventure out the day before in a tough 3-set loss was Leylah able to come back against and grind the same opponent down after everyone's favourite curly girl had been down a set and a break. With the tie ending 3-2 in Canada's favour, that point was crucialer than crucial.

This is interesting though, is that really the reason? To what extent are players divided between those driven by personal ambition and those that step up when playing for their country. I saw that Aga is attacking Iga for not being here. The jury's out on Rybakina, she was out of cancun earlyish, did she really have falre up of her back issue?

Then there's Bencic, achieved every conceivable honour for her country, will be remebered as having underachieved at a personal level.

It's not like Davis Cup or BJK Cup will become a top priority for all players if changes are being made, but just to name a few Alcaraz, Djokovic, Swiatek and Pegula are all happy to play under the right circumstances, that is when it doesn't interfere with their singles careers too much. With a better calendar slot, I think it's fair to assume that Jess and Iga play the BJK Cup finals for sure, most likely Coco as well. Czechia did pretty much field their best line-up this year, but with both Marketa and BK playing Cancun the week before, what percentage of their best were they? Haven't read Aga's comments, but Iga has perfectly good reasons to not play. She WANTS to play, not just when the schedule is idiotic.

Found a tennis player whose first action in pro tennis tournaments came when she was almost 23 years old in 2021. Has no junior record in ITF sanctioned junior events either. Now she is almost top 500 in the WTA after compiling a 51/22 record so far this season (mostly at W15 level, mind). Her official website suggests that she attended university in Japan, so I guess that's what she spent her time on before she turned pro.

It's never too late to make your dreams come true - Miho Kamurochi.

This woman, whose actual name is Miho Kuramochi, is also one of the more conservative schedulers. Possibly for monetary constraints.

In her career that started in 2021 she tends to either play in Japan or play tournaments in blocks.

2021 - started her pro career by playing five consecutive weeks in Cairo, followed by four consecutive weeks in Cancun after a month break.

2022 - 4 events Monastir -> 3 events Cancun -> 2 weeks South Korea -> 4 events Japan

2023 - 7 events Monastir -> 3 events Antalya -> 9 events Japan -> 1 (!) event Thailand -> 1 (!) event Japan, 2 events Thailand, 4 (and counting) events in Japan.
