. Teichmann breaks Wickmayer to take the first set. I was going to put her up after watching her doubles match with Burrage. Burrage is a bit of a cheerleader and brought Teichmann out of herself throughout the match and by the end of the epic 3 setter I thought Teichmann would power on and upset Wickmayer today.

Fought hard, saved a few set points, but still ended up losing the set and now seems like she went off court with a trainer.
Yeah almost an incredible 3rd set comeback but Burel survives the tb.

Mladenovic's doubles partner of almost 200 matches likewise just caught a hidden bagel in the same tournament when Carol Zhao made it 2-6, 6-3 from a 2-6,0-3 deficit.

I would assume so. I can't find the pdf order of play, but the web version on the WTA website has TBD slots for QF matches today, which strongly hints at the R16 winners having to come out again for a second match today.

Hibini has a very gentle looking elderly coach too. He must be very disappointed. After she flopped a volley/overhead real bad in the second set she also started the racquet throwing motion, but remembered in time that Yonex has no tolerance for their products being mistreated.

Kontaveit and Puig battled it out in the Luxembourg exhibition yesterday btw - Kontaveit won.

not gonna think too hard about this. Iga came to mind. perhaps Sabalenka? so I'll go with 1 but it might be 2
looking through some results from Wed, Thur, Fri and today from the WTA singles and doubles matches and there have been some total mugfest comebacks. a particularly crazy doubles comeback involving Errani and Paolini!
Ben Shelton also with an epic comeback against Giron!
last week of WTA before Zhuhai and WTA Finals. it all goes so fast!
But January 2024 will be amazing with all the comebacks!

Nothing wrong really with cheering on Bouzkova if we are in a universe where she doesn't make up that ball girls are bleeding all over the place.

drama queen or not, that was some tremendous fighting spirit.

Yeah exactly. Should have broken at 2-3 down in this set but rushed his breakpoint chance, lets see if he gets another chance here.
Beats the top 10 player in the semis, did he think he'd done the hard work? Bublik in no form. Classic JBABP but best to get that experience in Antwerp and not trip up on it in Melbourne.
