Bartunkova's first main draw win on the WTA tour after spending way too long clinging onto the hipster nest.

Logically she goes out in straight sets in R2 but the scooby sense says she's going to win the whole thing straight off the bat, Emma style, at 34s.
Eva Lys was made to look good by Sorana being terrible. She's certainly fast. She's like finding an old Wimbledon video tape under a sofa and watching it on fast forward. But single figures fourth favourite is silly.

Doubles related post warning Grin. Teichmann breaks Wickmayer to take the first set. I was going to put her up after watching her doubles match with Burrage. Burrage is a bit of a cheerleader and brought Teichmann out of herself throughout the match and by the end of the epic 3 setter I thought Teichmann would power on and upset Wickmayer today.

Last Erika Andreeva post of 2023 I promise but 1.93 to beat Burel must be pointed out. I guess the assumption is she's going to run out of petrol after her heroics last week. But she's on a roll and must be buzzing. Does a buzzing teenager run out of energy?

She looked revitalised in her first round against the WTA inexperienced but rising talent Darja. Erika notably a lot more patient in the rallies now and then unleashing some eyecatching winners.

First thing it states on her German wikipedia profile is that she prefers hard courts. I went like "lol right", but looked up if maybe her ITF profile says the same and indeed it does. Which is a bit curious because I know her as playing clay all the time. This hard court preferring player has a
