Another week with a weird ATP schedule. At least we have all the tennis on one continent now, even if that's the one with the most tricky time-zone to deal with. Lots of top WTA names in action this week. And hopefully Tokyo interviewer is still around

Found a tennis player whose first action in pro tennis tournaments came when she was almost 23 years old in 2021. Has no junior record in ITF sanctioned junior events either. Now she is almost top 500 in the WTA after compiling a 51/22 record so far this season (mostly at W15 level, mind). Her official website suggests that she attended university in Japan, so I guess that's what she spent her time on before she turned pro.

I thought SK was a reasonable country, but putting a top 100 player like Kwon in the military instead of having him represent SK around the world seems pretty backwards to me.

Well, South Korea is still officially at war with its direct neighbour, China is quite close and has plenty ambitions in the region and South Korea are not part of a big defence block that owns a nuclear deterrent (even if they are to an extend integrated into NATO/US defence structures). All their non-athletes youths are also K-Pop stars these days, obsessed with cosmetic surgery and being cute.

Bonzi wins 15 of the next 17 points to lead 6-5, Machac serving at 15-40 double balle de set for Bonzi. Bonzi missed those and after some more deuce shenanigans (game had 20 points), including a third missed balle de set for Bonzi, the two are concluding that kind of set in a tiebreak.

Lol he did this to me too in Aptos Challenger 2018 after I twisted my ankle and couldn’t walk… was up a set and close to winning the second so I tried to play the breaker and he was mocking me (an 18 year old ranked outside the top 1000) pretty much every point of the breaker
