My instinct that Sharapova was planning a comeback was correct but sadly she's joining Genie on the PAA tour. Seeing them together on promotional material already which looks odd considering their very public shots fired at each other in the past.

Tennis fighting back with press releases that Federer has promised to attend more ATP events as a spectator. Great.

I think it has the potential to be problematic.

I've watched a bit of it. It's looks a bit rubbish to me but people get used to watching things. (Remember when everybody laughed at the idea of virtual sports?)

I remember playing some tennis with an early teen member of my family (their first bash at it) and the things they didn't like were the things that this new sports seems to solve e.g. having to serve from so far behind the net.
It seems to have been designed as a low skill easy entry pastime for the easily distracted, a bit like swingball was in the 80s. People like to quickly feel competent at a game or sport and then if they are playing it a lot it will be natural to watch it etc.

It is also getting popular at a time when the WTA have introduced rules that reduce the appearance of recognisable stars at 250s and subsequently reduce their appeal to the public.

Is it a serious threat?

No.
(I don't have a great British comparison, but I believe it will be like floorball in Sweden, a very popular sport to play for those who like ice hockey, but to watch compared to ice hockey, floorball has very little appeal).
So you and Gavrilova were kind of right then. It will be fun to see what kind of buzz Sharapova will be able to create. She should dominate the sport given how one of the Tornado Black sisters just beat the Pickleball world number 1.

Looks a load of bollocks from what I've seen of it.
Must've been dreamt up on the toilet seat.
A gimmick for kids & slouches.

Need volleying skills in pickleball imo. Doubt her and Bouchard will play seriously anyway. They are just promos.

They're hype signings. I wonder if they they've tried to tempt Serena

It's like table tennis on an oversized table - utter carp.
