Here's a thread to discuss the final.

I think Ons finally gets her first Grand Slam title today. I'll predict she does it in straight sets. Good luck with your bets!

As a Swede I'm insulted you would even suggest the latter. Also it was 1-1 in sets, so not like he retired one game away from defeat.

Ons played really well to come from behind to win her 1/4 & semi(tho' imho that was some choke from Saba who just can't learn to keep the frigging ball in court rather than going 4 winners ALL the time)
well, yet again she's behind the 8 ball.let's see what happens
all the dy ke squad on the beeb will be apoplectic if she doesn't win, they were sooo wanting a PC winner
they might even start exposing themselves on social media such will be their mental anguish(allegedly)

Players can play badly in a final simply because of nerves, like Lisicki in 2013 who was crippled with nerves, even Alcaraz had to retire basically because of nerves against Novak at the French, albeit not a final, it happens, imagine 15000 people around you with all the lights and media attention, you can't relate to it yet people call them 'bottlers' lol

This match quality also has a lot to do with Marketa's playing style, like Tracy just said. With someone like Kerber, you are more likely to get an appealing tennis match with lots of nice shots and spectacular rallies. Ons herself doesn't give her opponent much rhythm so this is what we get.
