Their match at French Open had quite a lot of interest, so let's try a thread again for pre match talk and match commentary. So to not dilute the threads, let's keep the talk about this one here and not in the main Wimbledon thread.

I backed Novak pre tournament prices, and actually laid Carlos same time - first was ok, second prob a mistake now.
But I think I won't be amending it too much as I think he will win, even if narrowly. |

Will be interesting to see who starts stronger - Novak has sometimes been inconsistent, but I have a feeling he won't in this one. He knows he has to be at 100% or close in his game here.
On the other hand, Carlos crumbled last time these two met as a further thought... |

this is a final for the ages. bit worried about carlos since he said he cramped due to nerves in the french semi final.
i think this will go to 5 sets. novak desperately wants to match feds 8 wimbledon titles. he is probably feeling hard done by since a wimbledon was cancelled due to covid. fed will be watching this final. he knows this is the only record he has over novak. |

This is his big one to tie Fed here and give himself a damn good chamce of surpassing his 8 within in the next two years if he stays fit and healthy. This is the biggest major for him now in my opinion, he gets 2 more theres no comeback for Federers legacy as he wont have the numbers game in anything which is mental after what hes won. Joker wins it in 4 for me, Alcaraz will take him soon but it will be on the hard courts my prediction most likely at the US Open |

Novak will win simply because his mind is much stronger having had to go toe to toe with Rafa over all these years.
Carlos is obvs talented but I'm not convinced about his mind in moments of high pressure. You always rely on Novak at the key moments. Oh, & btw, if Novak loses the 1st set, load up. Same applies if he goes 2-1 down. |

It's usually a good play available to back Novak when he goes behind - but I believe he'll take the first set here, as he did v Sinner.

Alcaraz is value. He won't be making all those errors that Sinner did against Djokovic.

He's better than Sinner for sure, but Novak beat Sinner in 3rd gear and sometimes 2nd.
