Blimey, it's that time of the year already again!
I am glad to interest you in a new edition of the long-running tennis subforum tradition and game.
HOW TO PLAY:
Rule changes from RG: None
Pick a player each day. If your player wins, you advance to the next day and get to pick again. If your player loses, you are out. Each player can only be chosen once. The picks continue every day until only one person is left, everyone has been eliminated, or the tournament has finished. That's the basic rules already.
Some additional rules:
- picks have to be submitted before the relevant match starts
- in case of a retirement, all picks count as long as 1 ball of the match has been played
- you can freely change picks as long as the match of your original pick has not started, nor has the match of your new pick
- if your pick withdraws before the match and you do not submit a new pick for the day yourself, then the last to start eligible favourite (I will use average odds on tennisexplorer.com) of the day is automatically entered for you. Eligible means player that had not been picked yet on a previous day. This is done because it cannot be expected from people to be around all day.
- in case of (long) rain delays and carried over matches, you can not pick from these matches on the next day. I.e. a match is first scheduled on Monday, there is rain and the match never starts on Monday. It is then rescheduled for Tuesday. You are not allowed to pick from that match. If this situation arises, I will try to post the ineligible matches.
At the end, glory, lots of forum cred, and an entry into the competition's Hall of Fame awaits the ultimate winner(s). The Hall of Fame can be found at:

One more thing: Two of the rules are currently in the process of possibly being changed. The target is to change them in time for the US Open, if change is desired by those that play. Vekic was originally scheduled for day 1, which you already passed. Jabeur as a pick for day 2 good to go.
No. Currently pondering on what to do. I'd normally go with making folk pick from the normal pattern irregardless of what's on the order of play, which in the women's case would be any second round match from the top half of the draw, but the first round of that is missing so many matches still....
should just pick a top half R2 match tomorrow or the day after and count it for "day 3"

there are still 9 men's R2 matches and 12 women's R2 matches on the Monday half of the draw, so if those are scheduled for tomorrow that should give people plenty of options.
Ok...decision: For day 3 and day 4 (for now, but on day 5 the tournament will hopefully have caught up) we will pick according to the draw. Which means:
women:
Day 3 - pick a player that plays a R2 match (top/1st half of the draw). This can be the matches that are already determined and will probably be on tomorrow's order of play, but you can also e.g. pick Osorio against Masarova if you think Osorio will first beat Cocciaretto tomorrow and then (likely on Thursday) play against and beat Masarova. The pick in that scenario is strictly for Osorio to beat Masarova. Her just beating Cocciaretto in her first round match does not advance you to day 4. If you want to do this and pick someone who has not even finished their first round, maybe provide a backup pick incase they lose their first round. Say:
"Day 3: Osorio (if she wins her first round match), otherwise Vika"

still confused what to do i ve got 2 picks through kudermatova and jabeur so do i pick someone who is playing today round 2 orc can tmoz round 2 if so Jessica Pegula round 2 THURSDAY
Pegula is a valid day 3 pick, so you are good to go with her. For day four you'd go to

There really was no beating Grant this tournament as he clearly had sold his body and all sorts of naughty services to the devil himself. His most recent three picks came back from two match points down (Iga), from a set and 1*-4 with bp for 1-5 down (Keys), and finally down 1*-4 with bp for 1-5 in the final set (Vondrousova) to ultimately win.
