in 4 previous meetings, its 4-0 to novak. 2 on clay and 2 on hard court. casper has not won a set.
the 2.6 for a 3-0 win for novak looks tempting.
victory would mean slam number 23 for novak, overtaking rafa and becoming without doubt the greatest tennis player of all time. considering the 2020 wimbledon was not held and he was not allowed to play in an aus open and USO due to vaccine restrictions, novaks achievments are incredible. at the end of 2010 he had 1 slam v federer's 16 and Nadal's 9. he has overcome federer by beating him in their next 4 slam finals.
he is also the only player to win all masters events and has done it twice. he has beaten nadal in all 3 clay masters finals and has beaten him twice at the french open. no other player has done this. he has won 6 masters finals.
he has missed about 10 masters events due to vaccine restrictions. imagine how far ahead he would be in that race if he could have played in those events.
he now has a better h2h over both nadal and federer.

despite all of this, when sports journalists list the all time sports greats it will be M Ali, Tiger Woods, M Jordan, Usian Bolt, Pele, Maradonna, Messi, Tom Brady, Wayne Gretski, Don Bradman and Roger Federer............Watch them put federer in instead of Novak. he will never get the credit he deserves because of the vaccine and other political issues.

it's more a playing style and personality thing rather than vaccine's and politics, Journo's have always taking a dislike to him as well probably because he's an intellectual challenge to them whereas Nadal and Federer are much simpler people.

Novak currently 1.23 to avoid injury.

Btw, any journos putting Federer ahead of Novak now would just be plain daft.
The Fed bias is down to most thinking getting beyond 20 slams would be impossible & had already declared Fed the king.
Novak's unpopularity in some circles goes well before covid.
The irony is that he was once feted as a comedian/impersonator in his earlier days!

Think Djoko likely to be winning this, but will be closer than predicted.

A fully focused Novak wins easy. But he might go on one of his walkabouts circa Stefanos or mentally be affected circs Daniil which would make it very interesting as Casper has actually been majorly impressive this tournament.

Novak training and dedication to getting the most slams is exemplary. Feel like his forehand and serve has more juice than ever too.

Any chance of some mugging from Djokovic, maybe chuck the first set or pretend to, some farting about to bait the crowd etc? Give us some higher prices!

I guess my question has been answered already, but will we get even better prices?

1.32 just about high enough for me. Happy

Don't think we'll see a repeat of the Medvedev match. Winning the calendar Slam, an opportunity that comes along so rarely and only one player has been so close since Laver. Winning his 23rd Slam, he'll have several chances if he doesn't get it done today.

If Novak goes a set or even 2 sets down, load up.

Ruud can't outlast Novak.

Agreed. It was more of a smaller factor. Very much just a Stefanos display at the moment.

I remember a Kiwi called Chris Lewis (I think) back in the early 80's, not sure how he reached the Final, but he did.

14 vs 3 I think. Novak just playing like a monkey atm. Probably of the mindset he can donate 2 and still win easy in 5.

regarding Ruud, he's clearly doing something right. But in fairness he's been lucky with the draws to reach those finals.
RG last year, not on the same side as Alcaraz/Novak/Rafa. USO last year Rafa/Novak not there, different half than Alcaraz. Here Rafa not here, different half than Alcaraz/Novak.

Wimbledon that was, beaten by McEnroe in 1983

By:
SamuelMertensBertens

He has only needed to beat one top 10 player to reach those finals and that was Rune this year. (And you can make an argument for Zverev, who is better than what his ranking says due to coming back from injury)

Overheads has always been a Novak thing, it got a bit better under Boris, but has returned to it's normal state
By:
Des Pond
When: 11 Jun 23 14:55
is that because players nowadays are so tall (generally) that they don't practice overheads much because they are usually too easy?
