I've taken plenty of hits at odds on, we all have, I guess. But I feel sorry for anyone lumping on Alcaraz near the end of the set. Not many saw that coming, I assume.
yeah, you'd think he was over his pre-match jitters by that point having looked much better in the 2nd.

I reckon Ruud will beat Zverev. What do the regular tennis audience think?

Only possible issue IMO against Ruud is that Novak did show some muscle issues himself, with the trainer - Ruud had an easy match, and makes you work pretty hard, so can he work that problem against Novak...?
Novak been doing that for years - pure mind games imo.
He always finds a way even if he does look a bit spent physically.

Plus, I'd argue, if you're ever going to beat Novak, then it's going to be on clay...
Nope - for the reason I gave further up.
He knows that if he can go toe to toe & even beat the greatest ever player on clay, then nobody else will come close.

He has beaten great players like Rafa on this surface, but he's also lost plenty times on this surface too. And he isn't exactly going to be better than he's been in the past, when younger. He's worthy favourite of course, just putting out the possible chances for Ruud here - only Rafa stopped him last time here.
Over 3 sets on clay - yes.
Over 5 sets - almost a different sport.

You're right, on both points - but it still remains his weakest possible surface overall. So here is the best chance to beat him, especially as it's Ruud's favourite surface by far.
I would say his weakest surface is grass. The problem is that this applies to most players and these days his grass level is far above anyone else's.

Also I see it took two full sets of the womens final before it was even mentioned once in the megathread (literally). This has been a good old school match thread. Lots of contributors. pandora was right after all.
