he will miss the 2023 french and probably wimbledon.
is it really worth coming back at end of 2023 for 14 more mths? he said he is likely to retire in 2024 and wants to say goodbye etc. he should just retire now. he has had a great career. great players like him shouldnt do stuff like this.
if he somehow wins another slam, i will eat all my words.

End of a era.
The greatest fighter not just in tennis but sport imo.
If anyone was to name the 10 best matches over the last 50 years, Nadal would probably feature in half of them.

his will to win was incredible. his energy on the court, amazing.
his comeback V medvedev in 2022 aus open final is probably the greatest comeback in a slam final..........medvedev had 3 points to go 2-0 in sets and 4-2 in third set.

alcarez is going to take over. fact he won a hard court major as his first rather than roaland garros is a great start for him. novak has not played well sine the aus open. carlos surely for 2023 french open.

Hardly in the same bracket considering what a choker Zverev is or the fact that up until that stage in the match, to all observers, Nadal looked dead & buried.
