Garbine vs Linda N, cool R1 match in Lyon.
|
By:
That's the standout match for sure (though the fans of neither are that thrilled on twitter)
Linda had an impressive no fuss win over Kuzmova who's been playing well herself. Seems ready to carry on where she left off in Adelaide. I'm hoping big sis Andreeva can win a couple of matches in the top quarter and have a crack at Garcia. |

Watson went 5-1 up to 5-5 in the tie break, then broke the plucky curse and won the next two points for GSM! Unreal match, proper roller coaster in the odds

Ball was in for Kiki there..

she's right, when the technology is there, it should be used. But then there's the financial aspect. For a tinpot tourney like Lyon, who can't even get a packed house with their home players, it might not be viable to invest in electronic calling which is still expensive from what I understand.
|
By:
Shouldn't the WTA want to maintain a certain standard for their tournaments? and help the local organiser?
|
By:
Linda F has taken Bethanie to the woodshed
|
By:
I was thinking that too, but I'm not sure WTA is doing all that well. But there's plenty of money in tennis, so ideally it should be distributed better so all main tour tournaments had electronic line calling.
|
By:
BMS hadn't played main tour singles in 18 months.
|
By:
She managed to break Linda to love!
|
By:
but yeah, total beatdown for BMS
|
By:
Linda knows BMS will be a prominent commentator in tennis so didn't want to humiliate her too much as that could have turned her against her.
|
By:
37 is also very old in tennis if you're not an all-time great.

random thought, but I wonder who's the oldest women in the top 150 right now
