i am assuming novak and zverev will not be playing
Alcaraz has not been in good enough form lately, so hes a miss for me. done nothing in the slams yet.
would love to see rafa win and he has won before with such a bad prep, but this abdomen injury combined with the foot problem is surely spelling the end of his career, so not for me. maybe his last ever USO.
tsitsipas has the ability to win but his mental strength is not there......
Kyrgios - not a fan. him complaining about being unfairly treated by fans, umpires or players is a bit like ryan giggs complaining about his girlfriend cheating on him. that aside, he defo has the talent to win. his big serve could be a huge weapon here. but i cant have him. he could sulk and go out early
sinner, corrie and the likes of coric (great win at cincinatti) could win. The aus open, wimbledon and french have been totally dominated by the big three and murray/stan on occasion but the uso has been won by del potra, cilic, thiem and medvdev (though not a shock)......so one of these three could win.........all that being said,
i am playing it safe here and going for medvedev.........he has reached 4 slam finals and beat novak here last year to deny him the grand slam. he should have won way more than just the one slam. nadal has beaten him here and in the aus final when medvedev could easily have won. 5/2 may seem skimpy but value means nothing in mens slams. all the shorties do the biz with the exception of rafa here in 2017 and 2019 when he was probabaly 6/1 or bigger.

I'll be laying Kyrgios for sure. A Wimbledon final is his absolute peak and won't get anywhere near that again.
Rafa's price looks plenty short enough given his fitness issues and his record here over the years. Tempted to do a combo lay with Kyrgios, works out at around 3/1 to lay them both outright. The winner should come from the front two in the market but I won't be a backer. I might throw a few quid on an outsider to try and get a nice trade. Rublev is the one I'm looking at, currently 90 on here. |

don't agree about Kyrgios, he's pretty much the most talented player in the field, I would have thought Wimbledon gave him a taste for that success, if he gets a good draw he could make the final again, he will bring his A game, wants to be a big name in America. It's a shame he's not bigger than 7/1 however, would want him a lot bigger than that.
Fritz is dark horse at 20/1, again seems short but it's a sign of the times, Nadal is now 3rd fav behind a player than won 1 slam. |

Agree with you on the talent, Mes. But he's a headcase and the slam environment will bring that out. Many will point to his big performance at SW19 and the idea that its finally clicked for him but I'm not convinced. His draw and run was very favourable there, and the chances of that happening again are extremely slim.
Fritz is interesting, he was my outside bet at Wimbledon and I got a helluva run out of him. Of course that has shredded his price for this. Wouldn't put you or anyone off him, tho. Could go very well here. |

De Minaur is 80s this morning. He has admitted to not beating enough of the 'big-hitters' but being consistent in beating players he ought to beat. However there are enough of the big hitters now out (or locked out) for him to have prospects here.
He plays Garin next, not a big-hitter but a player that put him out of Wimbledon so an important rematch to put away. Then in the fourth round more significantly he plays Nick who thrashed him a few weeks ago in Canada. However Demon thrives on the New York atmosphere and has had his best slam result here getting to the QF in 2020. His achilles heel can be when a crowd gets on his back, he really has to get better with that but I'd hope he'll have some support in that match it won't just be an NK hype crowd. If he can get past these two rematches in three rounds then I think he will kick on from there and win the US open. |

It's a shame he's not bigger than 7/1 however, would want him a lot bigger than that. in to the quarters now after beating Medvedhead, should be beating Khachanov, Berrettini will be a big test in the semi's but he can do it. |

Big chance now for sure. The minute Joker's non-participation was announced, the whole shape of the tourney changed and NK's chances went up massively.
Nadal his biggest hurdle now, and he might not even make it to the final. |
