looking like mugs now the US Open will accept Russians.

Clueless mugs starting matches on the show courts so late they have to close the roofs due to darkness.

If matches on outside courts can start at 11am, why can't they start earlier on Centre & Court One?

According to the BBC, play on Centre Court not likely to start before 2.15 today, due to the " Celebration of 100 years ", at 1.30. Could be a late finish!

I think it's not to wear out the courts, but there's no reason they can't start CC at 1 pm and the 20 min break between matches seem unnecessary.

But if they have 3 matches on, what difference does it make to the wear of the courts if they start earlier?

yeah, they could start at 11 and still only do three matches, but that's not good for tv (play could be over by 6-7 om) and it's not something I as a fan/viewer either as all CC matches would clash with tennis on the other courts.

I just find it bonkers.

They say they want an outdoor tournament then end up having to close the roofs cos they start so late it gets too dark to finish the 3rd match.

The ridiculous thing about yesterday, is that the 2 matches before Nadal on CC were women's matches the 2nd of which was only 2 sets!

Absolutely farcical planning.

The outdoor tournament thing is quite random yes.
They had the roof closed for all of Pliskova/Boulter because forecast predicted some rain later, and then in the rain it didn't rain at all and they played the whole  match indoors. Like how about waiting until it actually rains to close the roof?

Yes another 10pm+ finish tonight due to this pointless parade of champions bollocks.

She doesn't seem to know that starting late means the players who are on last are effectively playing an indoors tournament.

Appears not to realise that there's a roof which changes the conditions.

I do see both sides of the Russians/Belarusians ban.

But not adapting the scheduling to take into account the interviews and the 20 minute breaks for spectators to 'have fun' is just a wilful refusal to acknowledge the basic rules of the passing of hours, minutes and seconds.

The roof should only be closed because of rain not darkeness.

It is totally ridiculous they start so late on the show courts.

If they want night matches, then they should get some floodlights that don't require the roofs to be shut.
